“It’s been driving me crazy since the day I arrived. And then just now, looking at it in the light… Just read it.” Curious, I bent over the book and skimmed the story. The initial illustration took up half the page, inked in faded black and red: a young woman at a vanity, combing her hair with a crescent pendant hanging at her throat. Behind her, half-hidden in the curtains, stood a hooded figure with long fingers and a smile full of jagged teeth. The crescent in the drawing was mine. Not similar. Mine, down to the slight asymmetry of the points.

I looked at the cabby, he had his head against the steering wheel, shuddering. “As*hole!” I cursed under my breath. A sturdy, possibly, man in his late fifties opened the gate. Emiliano shook hands with him and entered. I hurried to the gate, I searched around the gate to find an opening. I discovered the gate wasn’t locked, I pushed it slowly till I was able to see through. I saw Emiliano handing a picture to the man. The man raised the picture, scrutinizing the image. A flicker of a sheepish smile crossed his face. They were talking, but I didn’t hear a word. Emiliano shook hands with him again and turned to the gate without collecting back the picture. I ran back to the cab.

Holy Hell. The picture is of a man standing in a pool. Someone, probably Ryan, has doodled over the face, but damn, the man's torso is ripped with muscles... Tanned... Sun-kissed... Glorious. The image almost looks manipulated because the man is just too perfect. I haven't seen many half-naked men in my days, but even I know it takes dedication to get abs and a killer chest like that! The sent image doesn't show his nether regions—it is cut short above his swimming trunks, leaving some for the imagination with a sexy trail of dark hair flowing down the center of his defined v muscle. Dear Lord, this man got the entire package!

He collapsed on the sand, convulsing, the stench of urine carried far on the wind. The party crowd that had gathered to watch earlier stood rigidly, not daring to breathe. They finally understood something. The man they had laughed at as a kept husband was the head of the Thornes, someone they weren't even qualified to approach! I held Luke close and spoke gently. "Luke, don't be scared. I'm here. No one will ever bully you again. I promise." Luke clung to my neck and nodded hard, letting out a small, muffled sound.

the big man asked with a grin. "Carrying?" Ben blinked at him. "Your piece! Your shooter! Your gun!" the man rattled off. "I- I don't have a gun," Ben said. The man's eyes widened. "You went into a white slaver's den unarmed, left four of the bastards dead, and freed the five captives! HO-LEE SHIT!" "RENNY! Language! There are ladies present!" Dotty scolded him. The man was looking at Ben like he was witnessing the second coming and Ben's agitation rose. "You said something about a picture?"

Startled, I quickly turned around. Not far behind me stood a man, half-hidden in the shade of a tree. He wore a simple black outfit, his figure thin and unkempt, with dark circles beneath his eyes. It was him—the scholar from the bridge who sold paintings, the one Mr. Klein had called a hopeless case, a student who had dropped out to care for a woman. "You're speaking nonsense," I exclaimed, wide-eyed, a shiver running through me at the thought of his strange words. "I've never heard of any water demons here. You're just trying to trick me."

Elena wanted to ask a question when Clinton stood aside with a theatrical flourish to reveal a man standing by a door, hands in his pocket. Elena blinked rapidly. The man before her looked like an AI-generated image. His black hair shone like a slab of black jelly had been wasted on it. His jawline was finely cut, and he seemed to enjoy clamping his teeth together for no reason at all, making the sides of his jaws pulsate. His stubble was unshaven, which didn’t do anything to reduce his handsome features. Elena didn’t want to look at his eyes. She feared what she might find in there.

There was a picture on the cover, an airport scene, in which there was a five-year-old man with a gentle demeanor, followed by a group of security guards. The man is very young and has a lot of temperament. Many people are around, but he is still the center of attention, making people look at the sickle and feel attractive. He wears a gray coat, a slim body, neat short hair, a handsome face that makes people forget to breathe forever, and a pair of eyes that can steal someone's soul, the eyes are just looking ahead, and through the photos, you can feel that this person has a lot of enthusiasm and full of life.

Another one roared. "Can someone call security?" The others suggested. "Don't worry, ladies. I'll handle this." They all looked satisfied when a man walked towards Marionne. He looked like in his mid-40s, yet still, look formidable and elegant. "I know you, Marionne, right?" Marianne felt like he was showered with ice-cold water. The man in front of him was the father of Ava. "Uhm—yes—yes, sir." He struggled to answer.

It spelt alertness. " Who is this HE? If I may ask." The man pauses as if thinking of a suitable answer to Annabelle's question. " He is the leader of a pack, he seeks a mate" He replies finally. The man pauses and then continues " He wants you, the fairest in all of Idil. The witch of the confessor's touch" He smiles revealing his rotten brown teeth. Annabelle grimaces at the odour of the man's breath. His crazy words astounded her. He must have some sort of mental illness.
