What’s the deal with them, why are they here? ‘They won’t hurt you, they’re not bad’. A calling whisper rings in my head and I freeze reflexively. All the alarms warning me to flee the scene at once, die out like candle lights and my wide eyes fixate on the wolves watching with such a calm ambiance. It’s...it’s my voice, is it my inner conscience? Why does hearing that voice pool a settling feeling inside me? I should be afraid and kicking into fight or flight, but here I am.

Aeden said. “You have trust issues because of family and trust/security issues because of the stalker and now you're punishing yourself and Dean? And that's why Jordan was talking about getting a Doc involved.” Steve asked. “The Doc?” Aeden asked looking at Jordan with wide eyes. “Yes.” Said Jordan. “Who's the Doc?” Steve and Jake asked. “After someone broke into my house I started seeing a Therapist to help me with PTSD and of course my trust issues came up.” Said Aeden. “So now you're all caught up.”

I don't even remember when it happened but I'm sure we were happy and this day was very memorable for both of us. Even though I haven't seen and been with him for three years, my view of him hasn't changed even though I've lost my memory. I suddenly fell silent when I heard that voice. I couldn't even move my hand or my mouth. That voice, the voice that everyone is obsessed with, the voice that is as cold as ice, and the voice that makes my heart beat faster. The owner of that voice was none other than Sebastian. I slowly looked up and looked in the direction where the voice was coming from. I'm not wrong, he is.

“It’s not just the pregnancy or the stress. You’ve finally found your own kind, and your inner wolf has been coming out more and more.” I sniff, preparing to argue, but then his words sink in. My inner wolf… the little voice in my head… she’s the one that’s been urging me to behave so oddly lately. I can never recall her being so vocal before, or so unreasonable. I always assumed it was my conscience, but in hindsight… are consciences usually so defiant? Do they usually have personalities of their own, and feel separate and part of you at the same time? Suddenly I remember how that same inner voice had cried out her joy at being free when I shifted in the dream. Conscience? I think hesitantl

Our bodies were plastered to each other and though I didn't want to think about it at the moment, I could not ignore the feel of her small, soft body beneath mine. In spite of the situation, and me being angry and so alert, I felt as good as I had ever thought that touching her could make me feel like. So, you thought of touching her?? The inner voice said. Shit!! It was just a passing through, nothing more!! Why does this voice come whenever I say anything? On second thoughts.... why do I even think of all those things? And how does it listen to everything?? Shit!! Think about something else!! Think of the danger...

"Why didn't you tell me about your problem on day one? I would have spoken louder. I wou-" She shook her head. "That's not n-necessary." "Why isn't it?" "T-t-there's something in y-your voice," she stammered nervously as she gently tugged at her fingers. "In my voice?" She nodded again. "It's h-hard to ignore." "I don't understand where you're going with this." "Your voice," she looked down as a light blush stained her cheeks, "is the only voice that I can hear perfectly."

The dark voice came to me and seemed to guide me up out of my bed like it was controlling me. It said: You must go to this boy and listen to his voice. He is young and pure yet he has still turned to wicked ways due to the horrible society he lives in. Read his thoughts and know his pain! So I found myself at school in the primary area again. There he was, writing in his diary. His voice sounded innocent but I found out he was far from it. I heard:

Before my fingers even reached it, the book opened by itself. Just like it always used to whenever a new page filled up. My chest tightened. The page was blank for two seconds. Then words began to form. Like invisible ink deciding to show itself. {Your vampire side is not dead son.} I swallowed. {I believe you assumed it died but it is not.} My fingers curled into fists. {Your inner monster is in a deep slumber.} My breath grew heavier. {Use your fire to bring it back to life.}

I pressed my hand against his chest. Waiting. Listening. Nothing My Heart Stopped “No…” This time it came out broken. “No, no, no…” My fingers tightened in his shirt. “You don’t get to do this,” I whispered. The Voice Inside Me Was Silent For the first time She didn’t speak. Didn’t interfere. Didn’t analyze. Even she understood “Anna…” The voice came from behind me. Careful. Measured. I Didn’t Turn “If you say anything about sacrifice or necessary loss” My voice trembled.

One thought rose, dizzy and irrational: If I just step out once, it will make sense. My hand tightened on the knob. And then— A voice. Not outside. Not in my ears. Inside. Low and rough and undeniably mine, layered under my own thoughts like it had been there the whole time. Stay. Just one word. But it slammed through me like a command. My knees buckled. My hand slipped from the handle. I caught myself against the door, palms flat, breathing hard. The pull didn’t vanish.
