The Lady Awaits A Broken Engagement Novels & Stories

I asked. “It is I, Leila,” Damn it. “What do you want?” I asked coldly. “I believe I had sent it to you already and you have already kept me waiting,” She replied. I stood up and walked over to the table and looked at her not. She had prepared brunch for both of us. And we were to dine together in the dining room. I crumpled the note and threw it out the window. “I don't want to,” I said. “But you know it's against the rules to keep your fiance waiting, only to disappoint. You can break the engagement, but you cannot keep me waiting this long,” She said fiercely.

"I can get one for you." I shook my head. "No, thanks." "Let me know if you're uncomfortable, okay?" I almost shrunk myself when I noticed Sienna and Marco staring at me like they could not believe our exchange. "This is why you called off your engagement. You can't tell me otherwise." Sienna said, eyes lighting up like she had cracked some important code. Before Lucien could respond, another name was announced. And I was shocked to see who it was. "Lady Lorraine Sky Richmond. Escorted by her father, Beta Nolan Richmond and Beta Melinda Richmond."

The Adams estate had been up since early dawn. It was a day they had been looking forward to for three days now. The young lady of the house will be back after a long while of waiting. Everyone is excited that they have been up since the crack of dawn. “Are the rooms ready?” the main servant asked. Everyone rushed to their designated tasks in order to get things done for the day. The house had been gloomy since the news about the engagement’s possibility of getting annulled broke… even more when Ashina’s weak condition had gotten worse, and they had nothing to do but watch and see her suffer from pain every time they passed by her room.

Her gaze was empty, fixed on the window. “When will all of this end?” she thought. “I’m going to be engaged to Aric… but I’m not Ellya. I have a husband and a child. How could I accept this engagement?” She hugged a pillow tightly, her face filled with anxiety. Her mind kept searching for a way to cancel the engagement without raising suspicion. Suddenly, the door was knocked gently. “Darling, may I come in?” Rebecca flinched. She quickly stood and opened the door. There stood Catrine, with a warm, motherly smile.

In Isonbert, it was important to have a marriage contract as the deed. Sienna exerted a little force, and a tearing sound rang. The marriage contract was torn into half and then turned into pieces that could not be put back together. The whole hall was silent. Everyone did not expect that the lady who had always been chasing after Quentin and begging him to come back would actually agree to break off the engagement in such a decisive and sharp manner!

She demanded of her and with a sharp nod, the maid scurried closer to her and began to do as instructed; leaving the lady in awe. "Attendant, can't you see they just disrupted the line and..."the lady turned towards the lady behind the counter. "Calm down, Ms. It will soon get to your turn but sorry; I have to attend to her first." The attendant buts in, cutting her off and satisfying Joey's ego as a big smile blossomed on her face. And that was it. They were all left dumbstruck. Meanwhile Daciana was home bored down-to-earth. She kept taking short glimpse at wall clock, awaiting Arnou's return.

As night fell, all the household servants assembled in the bustling kitchen, awaiting an announcement from Madam Cecè. “Miss Vienna and Lord Red are engaged,” Madàm Cecè’s words struck me with the force of a lightning bolt. It felt like a bucket of ice-cold water had been unceremoniously poured over me. They’re engaged!? The word echoed in my mind, resonating with disbelief and a profound sense of loss. “Monsieur has arranged for an engagement party, and distinguished Lords and Ladies from various corners of the world have been invited,” Madàm Cecè declared with a regal air.

The rendezvous point was the deep pool beneath the castle. Moments later, Liam arrived. I pushed open the window. The deep pool below the castle yawned like a bottomless black void. I took a deep breath, gathering every last ounce of strength, and leaped toward the abyss.

Could we have had what the couple in front of me had now if things were different? Once the waiter left, Anne immediately asked what happened to her friend today. I didn't want to reveal her most vulnerable parts and our conversations, which should remain confidential, so I briefly explained our day, omitting the fact that she had slept in my room last night after her outburst. "We had breakfast together this morning, and we were talking normally until a man named Jones showed up... Shortly after that, I left to work and only found her again in the late afternoon, vomiting on the sidewalk," I explained Anne murmured, disappointed, "She ditched us to go drinking with this Jones... It seems li
