Chasing His Rejected Luna
I was to return to the maid quarters and rest.
Rest.
The word felt foreign.
Two hours crawled by. I couldn’t sleep. My body was too tense, my thoughts too loud. Eventually, I wandered into the library and picked up a book at random, skimming the pages without truly reading a word.
Then a maid appeared at the door. “The Luna wants to see you. In her quarters.”
My chest tightened. I placed the book down carefully and followed her. The Luna sat on her massive bed when I entered, legs crossed elegantly. She was dressed in white, her black hair combed back and pinned neatly in place. She looked every inch the perfect Luna.
