The Lady Vanishes Review Novels & Stories

The steak actually looks quite good. “Vivianne, I want you to go into town. There is someone very important I need you to find.” I look up at Papa and swallow the bite I had just taken. “Of course. Tell me the details.” A folder is placed on the table beside me. I open it slowly. There is no name listed, only a photograph of a woman in her early forties or fifties. She has features that remind me of someone from Egypt. “This woman needs to be brought back to me. She owes me a debt — and your mother, too. I also suspect she may be involved in whatever happened to Nova.”

She said, now making her way out of her house. Lily and Diego quickly followed behind her, locking her door. "You're not using your car?" Lily asked, watching as Vanessa walked passed her garage. Vanessa shook her head in response. *** Vanessa strolled down the busy street, her black hair bouncing with each step. She turned a corner and spotted a cozy coffee shop. She pushed open the door and stepped inside, greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. As she waited in line, she glanced out the window and noticed Lily and Diego who stood across the street. Lily was typing away on her phone, while Diego scanned the surroundings with a watchful eye.

The van drove for more than thirty minutes yet it didn't stop and Rory got even more frustrated by the minute as she scanned the van but there was no possible window for escape or even an opener on the doors from the inside. These people were indeed smart.. Also sons of bitches, she cursed and turned to the lady who sat on her own with her face to the ground. She just couldn't shake the feeling that the lady was somehow involved in the mafia and now she had included innocent her who just wanted a better life. She felt like weeping that minute but what on earth would that solve? Basically nothing! The lady just sat there with her thoughts long gone into another dimension. She was equally thin

Just as I was about to knock, a luxury van pulled up in front of the house. Out stepped Hilary, holding Lily's hand. "Mommy, that's the bad man!" Lily spotted me and pointed straight at me. Ignoring the murderous glare Hilary shot me, I turned toward the villa's entrance. "Nick!" she shrieked behind me. "Haven't you had enough?! Didn't you promise to leave us alone?! Go away!" She grabbed Lily and moved to push me back, but just then, the iron gate opened. An older woman with graying temples walked out.

her lips formed in an O form as her eyes widened in amazement the moment she'd took a close look at the unconscious bastard beside me. "Holy jackpot! He's superbly hot! I think----" "Shut up, Prizella! Let's get 'em be warmed first. They're shiv'rin' you moron!" Agad itong sumimangot when bob-cut haired woman suggested that, glaring at her friend. "Fine! I'll let you boss me around tonight. But just this one time, Amara!" Yamot na saad nito saka padabog ng lumayo sa'min, but not without sending a malicious gaze at Mr. Del fuero.

L- I guess, I just want this to be over so we can go back home. -Same here Liam, same here. The door opened and Vanessa walked in with two other women, one was pulling a rack that had several clothing bags attached to it. “This is Lydia, the director. Lydia, this is Adelaide and Delilah.” She introduced. Lydia walked over as I stood up, shaking her outstretched hand. “I heard you were interested in Vera Cruz's unreleased collection?” “Yes, I want something unique.” I replied, feeling Delilah's shocked gaze on me.

I manage to get the strings undone and I slip out of the dress, throwing it to the corner of the room where I hope to never revisit. I wipe my tears away and see my mascara on my fingers. I sigh and take a proper look around the room. Anthony was right, the room really was bare. It did have a very pretty vanity, complete with a swivel stool and a mirror. The bed looks to be a queen size with a white bed set and I hate to admit it but it looks very comfortable. I approach the vanity and look through the drawers, finding some make up and make up remover in one of the drawers.

until I'm forced to take it out and glance down at the screen. Shadow-1: Boss, we lost sight of the lady. She ducked out to a corner shop around 22:35, vanished off street cams a couple minutes later. Doesn’t look right. A second message pops before I can even make sense of the first. Shadow-1: Only clue so far—plain white Transit van tearing east on Devonshire at 23:15. Working on plates. Will update you soon. The room suddenly tilts as my pulse punches my eardrums, hot and panicked. My drink sloshes over my knuckles in my haze; I didn’t even realize I’d clenched the glass that hard.

He closed his eyes tightly, waiting in horror for something that will undoubtedly happen. But when he opened his eyes again, and while he was still holding the “open” button on the control panel, the lady disappeared. There was absolutely no one in front of the elevator! He slowly looked out of the open door. And he was totally shocked to see the lady again… She was facing away from him and seemed to be walking. However, he couldn’t see any feet under her dress… As a matter of fact, the skirt that she was wearing was floating over the cemented floor!

She looked like she’d stepped out of a tabloid cover — hair gleaming, silk dress hugging her curves, eyes dead as glass marbles. When she saw me, her lips twitched into something that might have been a smile if you scraped the venom out of it. I didn’t look away. She wanted me to blink first. I didn’t. Adrian and I didn’t mingle. Didn’t drink. Didn’t pretend. We moved like soldiers in a ballroom, invisible armor wrapped tight around old scars. Vanessa slipped through the crowd like smoke, her phone in one hand, her eyes scanning for soft targets. Ten minutes to showtime.
