CHAPTER 60: DAWN Peter and I danced and had fun. He got us some soft drinks and we enjoyed the event till day break. We talked about lots of things enjoying each others company till it was time to leave. Peter will spend the new year with his grandmother so he left London that morning. My mother fried some sweet potatoes known as potatoe chips and complemented it with a meat sauce. According to her, the new year will usher us into bountiful yeilds. We sat on the mat in our room. The dark ocean glimmers with the morning sun. I could see groups of dolphins playfully jumping out the water. I wonder if they have mermaids here too. As soon as their eyes were closed, Dawn took a deep breath, and within moments, a luminous white light surrounded them. "Our dearest Moon Goddess," Dawn began, "I have come to tell you that my granddaughter, Catalina Winchester, has accepted your offer.” A shiver went through Dawn's body right after she said that, and then she spoke again, her voice sounding different.

In the cradle of bones, Kaelia rocked Ember and Ashen, the twins whispered dreams of dawn and starfire. “Mother,” Ember chirped, bright-eyed. “Can I see the new sunrise?” Nyra knelt. “Of course, my bright spark. Together.” They wandered to the ramparts as the first true sun, ember-lashed and golden, rose above the horizon. The light washed over distant valleys , rivers gleamed like silver, forests awoke in emerald promise.
