She’s beautiful. She’s not beautiful in the way a person is supposed to be beautiful, though. She’s beautiful like a tsunami. Like a cold snap. Like the sort of forest fire that kills every living thing on a swath of land. Her features are as chiseled as the mountains, eyes gleaming like dying stars. The longer she smiles, the more stretched and unnatural it seems, the more uncanny. She’s so beautiful it’s almost become ugliness. She’s so beautiful she hurts to look at.

And then it was all fireworks. The powder wasn’t any ordinary. It was gun powder. Used to fill the barrels of a riffle and firecrackers. Denzel ran into Cyrus's arms. It was more horrific than he had imagined. It was like the body was lit on fire slow burning. The smell of meat burning and little crackling sound as the thread would move with the fire around his body. It lasted for twenty minutes before everything went quiet. All screams, all sounds. They arrived there in less than five minutes and Adelia stepped onto the land and touched it with her hands. Her eyes furrowed as she felt energy from the land. This was supposed to be an empty land so why was there this much energy coming from it. “Cara, do dead lands radiate energy?” she asked. “No they don’t,” Cara answered. “Then why do I feel such a huge surge of energy coming from this dead land?” she asked and Cara’s face contorted into a frown. “Do people use this route to get into the pack?” Adelia continued to probe.

She sobs harder and I lean in, whispering against her ear, "The only mistake bigger than crossing me... was crossing her." I drive the knife into her stomach. The sound is wet. I hold her gaze as the light drains from her eyes, until they cloud into that hollow, empty stare. Her head lolls forward, lifeless, and the chains rattle as her body sags.

The twinkling stars and the dazzling full moon gave beauty to the dark sky. The cold wind blew like it was quarrelling with earth and the snow fell like rainfall but the moment the snow reached the ground, it turned scarlet as the land had turned into a pool of blood overlaid with dead bodies. On that beautiful night was heard clashing of swords and cries of anguish as more lifeless bodies fall to the ground, killed with no mercy. It was as though death had visited the normally peaceful town, and the oh-so beautiful night had become an unpleasantly horrific sight.
