ADELIA The sky turned dark, and the wind furiously howled in the wind. A ferocious aura engulfed the surroundings, threatening to cut and destroy all that it could reach. It was a terrifying sight. ‘This...’ my eyes widened as I stared at the phenomenon. It was the first time that I witnessed it in reality but I have seen it in my visions many times before. It was the aura of the evil god... the wind god that would bring destruction to this land.

We were way too high up to jump safely to the ground so I closed my eyes and said my prayers. Dear Lord of human world or this one, or both, Goddesses Selene & Danu & all other goddesses... I realized my prayer had a long introduction and that I should be flattened on the ground by now but I wasn't. Opening my eyes I saw we were far from the castle and the trees and mountains below were getting smaller. "You can fly?!" Liam smirked, "We all have our gifts." "You are freakin' Peter Pan meets Superman right now!" I laughed and finally allowed myself to take a deep breath.

In the deserted land of the southwestern part of the magic realm, a lot of stones pile up like a gate. With every gust of the wind, the sand would form a whirlwind around the gate. The pressure of the wind around the deserted land is too heavy. And the sand contains a poisonous gas. A normal person couldn't get through the sandstorm. The vast deserted land looked haunted because of the shattered skull and bones of dead animals in the sand. Demons throw all the bones intentionally to scare the trespassers. Also, it is the only part of the magic realm that is covered with darkness.

The Emberlands were unlike anything Aria had ever seen. Gone were the frozen peaks and howling winds of the north. Here, fire ruled. The air shimmered with heat rising from cracked, scorched earth. The sun hung heavy and low, casting a copper sheen over the land. Smoke twisted on the horizon, the byproduct of ancient, ever-burning volcanic veins that laced the territory.

Dad and I arrived in Aztalia just in time for the country's rainy season. The pain in my knees flared in waves because of the cold. It was a chronic issue I had developed after that time I knelt in the snow. Dad brought over a hot compress for me. "I should've beaten the bastard to death when I had the chance all those years ago," he lamented. I smiled and hugged him, whining childishly, "Yeah, Dad. Why didn't you?"

Killan's voice boomed, a battle cry that resonated through the very soul of camp Meridio. His command was swiftly followed by Kenru's fierce shout. "Charge!" Kenru streaked forward with incredible velocity, leaving our formation in his wake. The gust of wind generated by his swift movement was solid. "Curse of the wind!" he bellowed, and a cyclonic blast enveloped the battlefield. Leaves, branches, grass, and sand were swept up in a furious tempest, directed towards the encircling warriors. Kenru harnessed the power of the wind, creating a maelstrom that disrupted the enemy's formation. The crowd of opponents staggered under the force of the gale, some even lifted momentarily from the ground

This time, there was really no way out, the Mo Family's experts were endless, and the gap between the two sides was really too great, even the people watching the battle from afar couldn't help but choke. All of the sudden, her mother’s flute stone was burning hot on her neck and she heard the sound of wind again, loud and clear. The wind was coming from the sky, miles above her. It traveled across the greenery of the Needle Woods and penetrated the pores of the rocky mountains. It was fast as lightning and strong as thunder. Then, it finally gushed into the abyssal cave and filled every tunnel.

Between that and the veil, I am losing all the skills my parents worked so hard to give me. But the Festival of the First Wind is an old tradition, from long before King Gavin took over, and one we rediscovered while we were in hiding. In a tiny town called Kubilay, so far to the west some maps put it in Oakspring Dunes, they have a legend that the very first wind in Lightning Cape blew through there, a gift from the Goddess to drop early fruit from their roseapple trees. Ever since, we have made a tradition to return at the high point of the festival and celebrate with them.
