The Little Wartime Library Novels & Stories

This doesn’t sound like the book I needed so I put it back on the shelves and wander the rows of clams looking for something that catches my eye. It turns out it’s not easy looking for something when you don’t know what that something is. The librarian walks in my direction once she is done reading to the children. “I don’t expect you to remember me, but I am Gilda, I would recognize your soul anywhere.” “I’m sorry I don’t remember you.” Why didn’t my soul sense hers if we had met before? “You used to come here often, especially before the war when witches were welcome to come and go as they pleased” her voice cracked.

I replied still standing where I stood. "I know." He said. "Which was why I used the word stumble." Then he looked at me. "I believe you." "Have a seat." He said, pulling out a seat for me. "Thank you." I replied sitting down while he sat on the desk nodding. "My ancestors built this library long time ago to hide confidential pack secrets and to hold our pack members Incase of a war." He said. All I did was nod.

The walk to the bookstore was shorter than she expected. Nestled between two larger buildings, its faded sign read "Willow’s Nook.” A small bell chimed as they stepped inside, and the scent of old paper and polished wood greeted them. The librarian was a small lady with a bob cut and cat eyed glasses, probably in her fifties. The space was cozy, with narrow aisles lined with overflowing shelves and dim lamps casting a warm glow. It felt like stepping into another world, one untouched by time.

“We still have two hours before then. Let’s visit the library first. I want to look for a book of spells.” “Book of spells? They have it? Wow.” “I’m not sure. But since the library was built way before the war, I believe books about other species are there.” Violette tapped her feet on the ground in excitement. “Let’s go!” It didn’t take long to get to the library. We arrived at the two levels building. It looked so old, like the woods would crack just by a soft gust of wind. We went in, and an old man gazed at us with amazement. I bet it had been ages since he had seen someone enter this place.

This man, who had accompanied the mayor to meetings and councils, was in his grand mansion doing something that required great concentration. But it was because things were happening in the town that he didn't like. So, before everything went out of his plans, he started reading from some books. He was in the library and closed his eyes after reading a few paragraphs. A kind of tingling air began to emanate from his hands, gradually filling the room, and then escaping through the window. After expelling that air from his hands, Lucian fell to the ground from exhaustion. But he knew that now he had nothing to fear, at least for now.

Our pack's library was famous for having the copies and even some originals of the most sacred pieces of werewolf books, personal journals, poems and stories and basically everything which is why I loved spending time in the library as a child, I used to be so interested in studying about our history, about how Wolves before us used to live, the things that used to exist before, all the wars that happened within our communities. I guess I lost interest as I grew up though, I got more busy with school amd training. Over the years the collection in the library kept growing but I wasn't here to read the new additions.
