he jokes, elbowing me lightly in the ribs as we walk.
I let out a low sigh, shaking my head. “I’m fine. Just tired.”
“Right,” Quinn drawls sarcastically, clearly unconvinced. “Well, if you screw up tonight, don’t blame me when Coach rips you a new one.”
“Noted,” I say dryly, forcing a smirk as we step into the crowded locker room.
It’s the usual chaos, gear bags spilling equipment across benches, teammates joking, the clatter of skates and sticks echoing off concrete walls. The energy is contagious, slowly pulling my mind away from the weight of everything else.
