I replied and she started looking at Ethan. Everyone fell silent. "Millus Road?" Dr. Sophia repeated after me. "Are you sure?" She asked and I nodded. "I'm 100% sure Dr.," I reassured her. "I can't forget that place where my life was changed or you can say stopped. I never moved on. Millus is the longest road without any turn or stop. So it's impossible to find a river near that road. I fell silent. I have no other thing to say or ask. She looked at me for some time and wrote something on the medical sheet.

Green fields covered most of the landscape and the trees were thicker. By the time they turned off and drove through the town of Longview, she could feel her nerves building again. But shortly after they’d made it through the town, she lost herself in the drive again. The road narrowed to a small two lane and she couldn’t remember seeing a drive more peaceful or relaxing. Several times she would get a peek at the large river, the Columbia, which sat just beside the winding road. The drive seemed to go on and she realized that they had hadn’t even passed any towns for a while.

No winter since had come close. That night, I had dinner with my professor and the old crew at a nearby restaurant. By the time we stepped back out into the night, it was three, maybe four in the morning. I was about to hail a cab and crash at a hotel, but then I spotted a familiar car parked just down the street. Same one that had been tailing me all day. My father put out a cigarette and walked up, trying to smile. "You done eating? Come home with us tonight. We cleared out the best room in the villa for you."

Ash Pov The gates opened with a groan causing my heart to clench. Six years behind those walls, and they still didn’t feel like they were done drilling me. I stood there, staring at the open road like it was a stranger totally confused on what to do. The air outside was definitely different from the stale, congested air I had been breathing for the longest. I had almost forgotten what fresh air smelt like. A Harley waited at the curb for me. The deep and familiar sound of the engine roared, giving me a nostalgic feeling. Behind it, three more bikes were laying carelessly.

The truck groaned, its engine a ragged, dying cough. We pulled onto the road. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a small, crumpled piece of paper. It was a drawing Leo had made in the nursery. A wolf. A moon. A house with a red door. I folded it up. I tucked it into my boot. "You got family down south?" the driver asked. I looked at my hands. They were empty. No rings. No scars that hadn't already begun to fade. "No," I said. "I’m starting a new book."
