The Looking Book Novels & Stories

she gives me a warm smile and just shakes her head before she nods and turns back to placing the books on the shelves. I quickly come across a book on bonds, but it takes me ages to find one about demons. I search through every book and shelf until, finally, at the very top, I spot a small, extremely dusty book. Although it doesn’t explicitly say “demons,” its title, “Monsters of Our World,” is the closest I can find.

As I looked at the book, it looked different, not like the ones I used to go through. It took me several minutes to be able to loosen the band around it; why was it even sealed? I didn't turn while listening to Luke, who was actually saying something, but the book was more of an interest to me as I opened it up. The first few pictures were of the first king of the seven kingdoms.

When I got it I climbed down the stairs . The book had an old leather cover, the edge of the pages were worn out, yellow in colour. It looked like a journal. There was dust on it. I opened the books. The book was written in several languages. It looked like spells. Below every spell there was an English translation. I was going through the book when my eyes fell on a spell. It was a spell to find things or places. According to the journal, if we recite the spell three times while thinking about the object or place the book will show the vision of the location.

He nodded slowly and before he could say anything more, the bedroom door swung open. Erick and Jess stood at the doorway; they were both breathless, so we knew they were running. Jess held one of the thickest books I had ever seen; it was a large brown book with golden decals swirled throughout the cover. In the front of the book, in a silvery oval was a white infinity symbol I didn’t quite recognize and then written in white above the symbol read: Book of Magic. “Woah…” I breathed, staring at the book. It was real.

Lexi was too engaged with Jinx to notice Wound had dumped the giant tome on the table right through him. "Yeah, that was the idea," Jinx admitted. He half stood up to try and see the book's pages. "But how about you tell me what's going on in that warped mind of yours?" "This is the Book of Changes, only one in this dimension." Wound began showing Jinx the pages of the book that kept shifting with different words. "You aren't showing him that!" Lexi knew exactly what book he was standing in the middle of now that it was brought to his attention. "Topsiders are never supposed to see it. Jinx doesn't need any more bad luck!" He tried to cover it with spirit hands.

A book lay open, its pages made of thin sheets of copper. "These are stolen," she hissed, her finger hovering over a line of text. "This is High Elven. This is a treatise on star-navigation. They stole it when they burned the Silver Spires." "They steal everything," Tristan said, moving deeper into the room. "Keep moving. We’re looking for 'Project Apotheosis' or 'The God-Shell'. Look for the Emperor’s seal." They split up, moving down opposite sides of the narrow aisle. Saoirse scanned the spines. The Anatomy of Angels. Void Theory. The Ethics of Soul Fragmentation.

Jane. I looked back at the sealed book, its faint glow pulsing like it was listening. “I need to get this to her,” I muttered. “Now.”

The wolves were watching me, waiting for answers I wasn’t sure I could give. “What if it’s not here?” I asked, more to myself than to Rachel. “Then I’ll look somewhere else,” she said firmly with her fingers pausing on a page. Her eyes widened slightly, and she pulled the book closer. “Wait. I think I’ve found something.” I crossed the room in two strides, leaning over her shoulder as she pointed to an illustration on the page. It was a small, intricately carved relic, shaped like a wolf’s head, with faint lines of text surrounding it.

I look over at Arya, and notice that she’s barely touching things too. But as I’m about to leave the pit, I see something strange in the middle of the blood drawing. It’s a small square protruding from the soil. And when I get closer, I notice that it’s a book. “Check this out,” I call over to Arya, and together we go kneel and examine it closer. Before I can stop her, she takes the little book, which is half buried in the soil. She opens it and starts to flick through the pages while I look over her shoulder. It’s full of strange runes and disturbing pictures.

A single search appeared before him, and it showed the words, 'Bionic eyes'. Ben searched for the book and found it in a place where people didn't often take books from, the shelf and the books in it were very old. Ben found the book that he looked for, it was a book with very few pages. The title of the book was 'Eyes of gold' and the author's name was Franklin Gold, Ben thought it was a children's storybook after seeing the title of the book as it was written very childishly.
