The Luna Trials By Marissa Gilbert Novels & Stories

“If you claim to be more than you appear, child, then let the Goddess decide. We elders demand proof. We will invoke the Trial of the Luna.” A gasp rippled through the crowd. Even Kaelen stiffened. The Trial of the Luna was ancient—older than even the Crescent Moon Pack itself. Few had ever witnessed it, fewer still had endured it. It was a test of the bond, of the divine recognition by the Moon Goddess herself. If Aria passed, her identity would be undeniable. If she failed, she would not merely be shamed—she would be exiled, or worse. Selene’s lips curled into a dangerous smile. “Yes,” she said quickly, eager, her voice ringing like poisoned silver. “The Trial. Let the Goddess strike down

MADDOX I laid there and watched my mate sleep. I dared not move in case I woke her. I'm surprised it took her as long as it did to break down. I had known it was coming, no one could have gone through what she had the last few days and not have cracked. I was beginning to understand why the Moon Goddess had paired me with her. Her undeniable reliance and strength, outshone my own. She would be the perfect Luna for the White Claw pack, and probably far more than what I deserved in a mate.

Everyone on the room had gone speechless from the story that Ernaline had just told them. " Lucretia really do all of this?" Lewis asked speechless as he stared at a Ernaline. Who would have thought that their Luna that is so highly respected was nothing but a murder and she didn't just kill one person but an entire family. "She had done a lot more than this to become the destined Luna" she spoke, Xavier did see a word he just stood with his eyes wide open listening to their conversation.

“You will remain here for two months. At the end of this period, after rigorous trials, one of you will earn the right to stand by his side.” I grip the edge of the pot, struggling to keep my balance as jealousy and disbelief flood my senses. I am his mate. Why would he need a chosen Luna? Does he even know about this? For the first time, I wish I were marked by him. If I were, I could have reached out to him, begged him to come and take me away from this madness. This wasn’t the plan. The woman silences the murmuring crowd with a raise of her hand. “Strength and courage. Empathy and compassion. Intelligence and strategic thinking. These are the qualities we will test you on. For now, you ar

For a moment, I couldn’t even process what she’d said. Then the words hit like a slap. “A what?” “A Luna Trial,” she repeated, slower this time, like I was a bomb about to explode. “It’s an ancient tradition for disputed Luna candidates. You’ll be assigned a task or challenge by the council. If you complete it, they accept your role as Matteo’s Luna.” “And if I fail?” I asked, voice trembling despite my best effort. Mila hesitated. “Mila.” She swallowed. “If you fail… they’ll demand he rejects you. Or worse.”

Elara was Cassian's only Luna, and they had loved each other for ten years. But at this year's remembrance ceremony, Elara's name on the stone tablet suddenly split open. The Moon Goddess no longer blessed her, no longer claimed her. Another woman, Seraphina, was about to become the next Luna. And Elara had only five days left to live. What made it worse was that Cassian had known all along. Three years ago, he had led Elara up to the crown himself, and he had signed that contract himself. He knew perfectly well that being Luna had never been an honor, but an offering to the Moon Goddess. Yet Cassian kept it from her for three years. All he said was, "I want to save you." Only later did she

The other warriors begin laughing, saying ‘ohhh burn’ to our pack mate. “I guess we’ll see, won’t we Luna?” he asks, smiling. “I guess we will,” she says, smiling her first real smile of the evening. “Lady Luna Malin! Lady Luna Malin!” some sprites say, rushing over to her. “Have you seen our lights?” “Lady Maeve made them for us.” “Do you like them?” “They’re beautiful,” she says, turning away from the warriors and switching into a sweet mode for the sprites. “Did Mari put those flowers in your hair?”

Then softly she said, “You’ve got this.” I met her gaze in the reflection. “You don’t know that,” I couldn’t help the spark of negativity. She smirked. “I do, actually.” I exhaled, shaking off the weight pressing on my chest. “Let’s go,” I said. When we got to the arena designated for the Luna trials, my eyes widened in awe. It was a beast of its own, a massive colosseum that had been carved from white stone and drenched in sunlight, People filled the stands to the brim. The audience was formed by a variety of people, including nobles, officials, and even peasants, they were all gathered to witness the beginning of the Luna Trials.

GABRIEL A Luna wasn’t just a title—it was a role that carried with it a thousand expectations. She would be my equal, the heart of the pack, someone I was supposed to trust with everything. Her fate would be tied to mine in ways I couldn’t even fathom, and every alpha knew that was a heavy, almost suffocating burden. It wasn’t just about loyalty or power. It was about sacrifice. For me, for the pack, for her. And if she wasn’t a wolf?

asked Yura looking curious. Aron looked at Jessy asking for his approval to tell his mother about the incident earlier. The girl nodded, she thought if the woman knew maybe she could solve the mystery that was happening now. In a few minutes, Aron told Yura about what happened during the full moon. Yura wasn't surprised at all. His guess was not wrong in the slightest. "Welcome princess Jessy to the world of wolves." Yura smiled, hearing her mother call Jessy a princess made Aron and Jessy even more confused. What Yura said again invited questions from the two of them.
