Helena stumbled back, drawing a knife, her breath ragged, “You just won’t die, will you?”
I wiped the blood from my cheek and smirked, “Guess I’m just stubborn like that.”
Victor coughed, his voice rasping, “You’re too late, Nyx. Even if you kill me, you won’t escape.”
I ignored him, my focus locked on Helena. We circled each other, the elevator humming as it ascended. My fingers tightened around my blade. Every nerve in my body screamed at me to finish this. Helena lunged first, quick despite her injuries. I dodged, feeling the knife skim my ribs. Pain flared, but I didn’t stop. I countered with a slash of my own, catching her shoulder.
