Everyone has a crush they never actually got over. Harvey cherished his old friends greatly. Many of them were from way back in middle school, so, of course, they knew about his past. That was just his way of loving—loud, proud, and impossible to miss. I was woken up by the rattle of notifications and stared at the screen in a daze. This group chat gathered his close friends, and I never wanted to miss anything, so I hadn't muted the group. The party had just been a spark, and the tinder was a bunch of small details I was concerned about that led to the outburst.

This night…NEVER..happened!” The rest of the Midnight Club fell silent, out of breath, failing to process the moment. One minute they were laughing, on the next someone’s dying and choking on his own blood. And then, one by one, they left like nothing happened, painstakingly acting like none of what happened before was significant. This night NEVER happened.
