The titles immediately caught my eye: The Myths of Moonsdale, The Wolves of the Moonlight, The Moon’s Chosen. “These are about your pack, aren’t they?” I asked, pulling one of the books from the shelf. “Some of them,” he said, stepping closer. “Most of it’s exaggerated or romanticized, but there’s a little truth in there too.” I flipped through the pages, mesmerized by the intricate illustrations of wolves under moonlight and detailed depictions of pack hierarchies. “Can I borrow one?” I asked. His lips curved into a small, genuine smile. “Take as many as you want.”

“three Winter Solstices ago, the family from that malpractice case cornered her there—under the blood moon. They used silver-forged blades, cut deep until her wolf couldn’t heal. When the bond broke, she screamed once, and then… she was gone before the healers could even reach her.” He paused, voice lowering. “The Elders said her spirit howled for one year before the moon claimed her. Her scent lingers because she died there.” Rowan’s brows furrowed, his jaw tightening with a pain he refused to name. “Don’t insult me,” he snapped. “She always had a flair for drama.” He pulled out his phone, the blue glow illuminating the hollows beneath his eyes.

I will do the stupid Hide and Go Seek in the woods. ‘Thank you. And Sugar?’ “Yeah?’ ‘Whatever happens during the ritual, don’t run and don’t fight me.’ ‘Excuse me?’ He doesn’t answer. I pace my room. The once full blood moon is starting to become a waning gibbous. I always preferred a waxing gibbous. My chest is tight and it feels as if something is trying to claw its way out. I look away from the window and instead sit on my bed and stare at the ceiling. I barely slept because of the strange feeling.

I pressed it gently, and a small compartment creaked open. Inside was a worn, leather-bound book. Dust covered it like a veil. On the front, the faint outline of a moon glimmered when the light hit it. The Moon Book. Jorge had once mentioned it...the old records of prophecies and bloodlines. I thought it was just one of his old stories meant to keep me hopeful during the worst nights. I sat on the nearest chair, brushing the dust away. The leather was cracked, soft at the corners. My fingers trembled as I opened it.

He places the stack on another empty table. "Here you go, Miss Anna. If I may advise you, I suggest starting with this book here," he points to a red book with gold lettering. "It's about the division of the packs. Then go to this book here," he points to another book with a green cover. "This one is about the old kings and the once-powerful Luna of Mooncrest, and then the rest is up to you." Powerful Luna? I give Zahir a sincere, enthusiastic smile for his tips and dedication in fetching all these books for me.

She nodded and turned her attention to the front and listened to what the professor discussed. “I’m going to the library. It’s boring here,” I said, and before she could confirm, I already teleported to the library. I walked toward the bookshelves and selected some books, but an old book on the far end of the shelf caught my attention. It was full of dust, so I used my powers to get rid of the dust. ‘The Moon’ is the title of the book. The title seems interesting, so I read it.

They aren’t exactly extinct but they go out of their way to keep to themselves. “Here, this is the pack. Harvest Moon,” River says, bringing a large book to my table. I push to my feet and carefully brush away some dust on the cover as I take in the crest. It’s a reddish rust colored moon, with three wolves howling around it. One, matches the color of the moon.

It stood upon the surface of the moon, gleaming with an ethereal luminescence that cast a gentle, silver-blue glow over the lunar landscape. The palace seemed to merge seamlessly with the moon's natural beauty as if it were a part of the celestial body itself.
