It was a laboratory filled with glass tubes, brass humming-coils, and a massive, lead-shielded sphere that vibrated with a sound like a dying star. Arthur, the Eighth Brother, was waiting for us. He looked older, his hair completely white, his eyes sunken from a thousand sleepless nights of calculation. He didn't look like a king; he looked like a man who had seen the end of the world and was trying to out-math it.

"My father said she hid the debt in my blood. If she’s in the Eighth, did she go there to hide, or was she taken?" Vane walked toward her, the glass of bourbon forgotten on the marble table. The vault door slammed shut, locking us in with the Oracle, the King, and the Gears of the First Luna. "The Eighth Cycle was a circle," Jackson said, stepping toward me. "The Ninth was a point. But the Tenth... the Tenth is a mirror. And I'm going to break you inside it."

I suddenly remembered Elle’s words back in the car. “The moonstone is rare because it only blooms occasionally under the moonlight for a short while. Perhaps till another moonlight but that could take months or years in fact.” My eyes widened in horror as I watched it sink into the altar gradually. This was my chance to get the final ingredient to cure my curse! But then, Elle was already freezing, her skin was gradually becoming that of a statue. Who was I going to choose?!

After all these years, have I lost my touch, or has the industry grown so unfamiliar that I don’t recognize it anymore?” Reina turned in fear and cast a furious glance at the woman who had followed her in. She had asked the woman to close the door earlier, and now the woman was looking guilty, having indeed shut the door after entering. Emma and Penny were inside the room, and without a room card, no one could enter. Unless the newcomer had a key card. The woman, Edwina Cohen, looked at the newcomer with a strange expression. Edwina’s entire body stiffened, and the color drained from her face.

As I reached the end of the stairway, I found another door and as I opened it, the scene unfolding before me was shocking. Many different supernatural was hanged up with silver cuffs, some with blood covering their body and some with bruises. And some seem to be very young. And in the middle of all this mess, the King was standing right in front of me. “Well, well, well” he said whilst clapping his hands in a form of a sarcastic applause. “I guess we found the mole.” He said with a treacherous smile. “How do you know I was going to come here.” I asked

On the way back, we stumbled with the same wooden box as before and the feeling of being followed grew at the back of my head. Eight was the one who opened the box, it contained a note. We all hurried back to the cave before reading it. Once we were back in the cave, Eight immediately recounted the events that happened between me and Nine though I wasn’t sure if Four took the bait. I was expecting it in the first place, Eight was vocal about his suspicions towards me but he could be easily manipulated, unlike Four who sees logic in things. “It was self-defense!” I raised my hand and distanced myself away from their judging eyes.

Elise started to say. “Oh, save it, Elise.” Elaina, Alpha of Morpheum, said standing. “Morpheus, you honestly believe uniting with the vampire will work, and we will be able to discover where both are disappearing off to?” “I do, Elaina.” Morpheus answered, “Katya brought them, and us together in a nightclub of all places, and according to Killian we are way ahead of our time; imagine if we find a solution to this problem together.”

She whispered, “I was never meant to stay.” And the breach above surged— It wasn’t a being. It was absence. Like something cut from existence and stitched into the world again with blood and sound. It wore no face, but Evryn’s shadow stretched toward it. It was her—or rather, what she could become if she gave in. The Eighth. The Final Seed. Just before the merger completed, a violent spark tore through the breach. Another voice, furious and alive: “NO.” A figure dropped from the sky of shattered time, slamming into the ground between Evryn and the Architect’s conduit.

She licked her lips. "Hmm, who does not know the Alpha of this pack." She said and I looked at her with scrutiny. Really? Who does not? She is fishy. * * This book is weird 😂... I don't even understand what is going on with Connor and Alyssa.
