I leaned against Vera’s shoulder, smelling the faint scent of her perfume, and felt my consciousness beginning to drift away. "Vera," I whispered. "I'm here, Mylo. I'm here." She held my wheelchair tightly. "If there is a next life... let's not be rivals. Being rivals... is just too exhausting." Vera whispered "I love you" over and over into my ear, but her voice was growing distant, like an echo from another world. I felt her scalding tears hit my neck. He walked closer to it and saw moss building up at its base and slowly climbing up its body, at the top rested a single book which had an incomprehensible title at the front.
