Alpha Brian stood up and slammed his hand down on his desk. "You rejected that right when you let someone other than your mate mark you! You will NOT be Alpha of this pack! I refuse to have some Omega who isn't even your mate as Luna of this pack! I have every right to do so, it is in our laws. Do NOT raise your voice to me again or I will banish you from this pack and make you a rouge!" Alpha Brian screamed back. Everyone was bareing their necks to him with his aura running off. Mason put his head back down.

“That’s how you survived. The Moonrose. Tell me—what does it actually do?” He gave a dry chuckle, pride bleeding through his ancient voice. “The roses come in pairs. I have the white one. Kiran has the black—far more powerful, but dangerous. Like soulmates, these roses are bound. Mine has kept me alive. More than that—I am the rose now. I don’t just use its power. I am its vessel.” Without another word, I unsheathed my blade and sliced my palm. Blood welled and dripped into the ceremonial bowl. Rhaegos, resigned, did the same. Our blood swirled together—ancient, powerful, defiant.

The stranger placed a single object flat onto the pristine wooden counter. Then, before Amora could even step forward, the figure spun around and glided out the front door, vanishing into the crowded street like a wisp of smoke. Amora’s heart hammered against her ribs. She walked slowly toward the edge of the counter, her breath hitching in her throat as she looked down at what had been left behind. Resting on the clean pine wood was a single, flawless rose. But the petals weren't red, pink, or white. They were a deep, velvet, midnight black. The stem was thick, covered in sharp, jagged thorns, and a single drop of dark, ink-like liquid clung to the leaf like a drop of poison.

or maybe not. Then I noticed something on the bench beside me. A single black rose. I've never seen a black rose before. It's beautiful,rare and unique. I wonder who gave it to me. I looked around, but there was no one in sight. Not a single soul. Just the rose... and the strange chill that came with it. I blinked. It hadn't been there before. Had it? It was delicate and dark, almost unreal. Like something out of a dream or a warning.

He flinched slightly, but didn’t show it for long. Then... there came a heavy knock on the door. Before I even processed it, the door swung open again on its own. I nearly fainted at the sight before me. “Kyra…” Norway slipped inside like a serpent—and, like the one who owns the entire fortress, tall and calm and infuriatingly elegant. And right behind him? Another group of servants carrying… “Are those… roses?” I croaked. “Black roses specifically,” he corrected, smiling warmly. “They are very rare, and royal. They bloom only where sacred bloodlines are blessed.”

And since he was very tall, Layla was almost lifted off the ground. "E-Eric… let go… I can't breathe…" Eric looked down at her, his handsome face gradually souring. "Did you forget, Layla, that the perfume you're using is Avril's favorite scent, with the main ingredient being rose oil? I bought her many bottles of rose perfume in the past because of how much she likes the scent of roses. I'd just forgotten about it later on…" Eric suddenly let out a self-deprecating laugh. Indeed, he'd forgotten too many things.

I sighed, putting on the safety of the weapon and tucking it into my waistband. "Let's go boys, the fun is over" I ordered and turned to leave with my men sauntering behind me. ROSELLE'S POV. I heard the pistol go off twice before feeling the bullets pierce my body. Everything came to a stop as I fell hard to the ground. I laid still, feeling the rain drops beat down harshly on my body and listening to the sound of retracting footsteps. I could feel my life crawling gradually out of my body and to be honest, being shot in the stomach and left to bleed out on a cold wet pavement in a dark alley, was certainly not one of the ways I wanted to die.

“Rose-“ But before I could even finish my word, I felt a hand wrap around my waist and then I was being lifted up and off of the floor and the world went black. **** “You can open your eyes now.” The first thing I noticed as Damien lowered me to the ground was the intense smell of black roses. Since they were different from normal roses, they had a distinct smell which was richer and stronger than any other rose in the world. It was also the only rose that stayed in bloom for an entirety of two months. As I had expected, when I opened my eyes, I was no longer standing in the Shelter, in the middle of the ocean, but in the inner gardens of Damien’s castle, the place where we first met.
