Bound. "Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that,? But since you asked so nicely, I am the guardian of this room.? His smile widened. “I’m the Keeper of these records,” he said calmly, taking a step closer. “Sworn to protect the truth. And punish those who dare unearth it.” My pulse spiked. So this is how Kairos kept his secrets buried he assigned a guardian. One tied by blood or vow… or worse, by magic. “I was just cleaning,” I lied, feigning innocence.

"Only those of the blood can turn that lock. Are you Elena’s girl?" I took a step back, keeping the desk between us. "I'm Esmeralda. Who are you? How long have you been down here?" The old man stepped into the light. His eyes were milky with cataracts, but he seemed to see me well enough. He let out a soft, wheezing laugh. "Too long, child. I am the Keeper. I was forgotten by the Council forty years ago when they decided the truth was too dangerous to keep in the light. They think this room is sealed. They don't know about the belfry door."

It is a crucial lesson for her, and it will undoubtedly be challenging for both of us. In our role as guardians of the defenders, we hold a divine contract bestowed upon us by the God among Gods. Our mission is to care for the Orphans during their quest to reclaim our lives. We are mere spirits, drifting through the land, aiding them in completing their missions to secure our own redemption. However, once our duties are fulfilled, we are destined to depart from their side and return to our former lives. The weight of this realization didn't fully dawn on me when I first agreed to the contract, but now I find myself regretting that decision. Even though the possibility of our reunion lingers,

Ronan asked, his voice respectful but firm. The old man didn’t look at him. His voice, when it came, was a dry rustle, like leaves scraping over stone. “I have come to see the Keeper. And the Voice. I am the last of my kind. I am the Memory Keeper.” A ripple of confusion went through the crowd. They had Rememberers. They had Kael’s Archives. What was a Memory Keeper? Liora, who had been tending a small herb garden with Elara, stood and wiped her hands on her apron. She felt the man’s presence like a deep, still pool in the lively river of the settlement. She walked towards him.

Shaking my head, I add, “Unknowingly, I arrived here seeking answers, but it seems you only wish to hurt me with your cruel words.” His gaze flickers to the book in my hand, the pages worn and yellowed with age. “Open it. Innovar is a name for the creator. The one creature that made us all. The Soulmaker, Soulmender, and Soulkeeper are its descendants. There’s a chapter about the Soulkeeper, who is said to haunt the dreams of those cursed or carrying poison with them.”

"Amara, you are going to leave tomorrow. Have you packed everything?" The old lady, Marry, asked her. She was the caretaker of the orphanage and had seen Amara growing up from a toddler into a teenager and now soon into an adult. "I have packed everything mother." Amara chripped excitedly. She is an orphan who was left on the doorsteps of this orphanage when she was barely a few months old. It was a rainy night and since then she hates rain and night. The harshness of rain and darkness of night scares her. It makes her feel all alone in the world.

Parker asks with slow hesitation. “I didn’t give him the opportunity to give you any information that Declan may have had. The Luna of the Orphans, the oldest child living in that hell house is my mate. She contacted me in a panic attack over Micah and his sister after she gave them to Declan. She knows the support needed to get him through this type of poisoning doesn’t exist in her pack. She doesn’t trust me or my pack but we are all she has.”

"The magical backlash from the binding... it went into the ley lines. It went down." The iron door to the Dragon Keep—a massive vault sealed for three hundred years—began to glow red. The metal warped, melting like wax. A roar echoed from the depths. It was a sound that vibrated the marrow in their bones. ROOOOOAAAARRRR. The door exploded outward. A figure flew through the smoke, landing in a heap at Vespera’s feet. It was Oryn. In this world, he was an Orc—green-skinned, tusked, and wearing the leather apron of the Beast Keeper.

“El-“ Caspian stopped, and Elora looked up when they heard the door open. Someone appeared from inside the orphanage. An old woman wearing a long shirt and skirt, and an apron with floral prints. “Are you looking for someone?” she asked. Caspian gave Elora a second meaningful look, as if he was saying ‘nothing bad will happen’ with that look. Then Caspian walked closer to the gate, which stood firmly up to his waist. "We'd like to meet the owner of the orphanage," said Caspian, politely. The woman descended the stairs, leading to the front yard which was only about three meters long. "Yes, that's me." Then she looked at Elora, and her expression changed. "Elora? Are you Elora?” *

"Yes, it would seem James is a good friend of my father's." Sparing his friend a tilt of the lips, while the cheery blonde continued to read his beloved manga, Clay raised his fist, knocking twice on the large oak frame. No sooner than when the knuckles laid a kiss upon the wood, did the door get pulled open. Five small fingers curled over the handle, and a girl that reached only to his chest stood awkwardly in the doorway. False light illuminated her blue sweater and long tresses as she greeted them with a timid smile. "Oh, can I help you?" Finally putting down his manga, Drew peered down at the girl. Widened eyes before a blinding smile, "We're here for the Orphan
