CHAPTER 3 I bent my head, the weight of despair pressing down on me. I guess it was my fate to suffer like this, I thought, as tears rolled down my cheeks, hot and relentless. The forest around me was silent, save for the faint rustle of leaves in the cool night air. My knees dug into the damp earth, grounding me in my misery. But just then, the soft crunch of footsteps broke the stillness. My heart lurched. As if guided by some primal instinct, I sensed someone standing before me, their presence heavy and commanding.

She cried out to Mother in the same wheedling tone she always used, "Mother, you won't abandon me, will you?" The voice that had once brought Mother comfort now sounded like a death sentence. She screamed and tried to run, but a sharp blade landed directly behind her. Realizing that escape was impossible, she immediately turned to scold Victoria, "You committed these crimes yourself! How can you make me pay for them?" The three beastmen watched them shift blame to each other, exchanged glances, and said, "Since neither of you wants to do it, we'll deal with both of you together."
