I’ve enclosed a drawing. She tied the parchment with twine, fastening it to the leg of a tawny owl, swift, sharp-eyed and loyal, the bird her uncle had once gifted her. Whispering to it softly, she sent it soaring into the night sky. … Five days passed in silence, each one gnawing at her nerves. Then, on the fifth night, soft wings brushed against her window. The owl had returned. Her heart leapt. She rushed forward, unfastening the small roll of parchment tied to its leg. With trembling hands, she unfolded the letter.

'Do not falter. Easy for her to say. She was not the one who had to walk into Ashen Ridge tomorrow and pretend nothing had changed. She was not the one who had to face Pilar's questions, or the whispers that were surely already spreading through the pack. I stopped at the edge of the ridge, looking down at the row of cottages where the omegas lived. Our cottage was at the very end, the smallest one, the one with the crooked chimney and the garden that Mother tended with more love than skill. It wasn't much, but it was ours. It had been so for the last fourteen years.

Elora said, wiping her tears as it dawned on her that Drew didn't enter the house because he couldn't see the house. " He couldn't? Then why are you -" "- he couldn't see the house " Elora cut in and then she looked at the mother wolf and its pups who were asleep. " I think they did it. I think she can do what I wish" Elora muttered and looked at her mother just in time to see her reaction. It was as if her mother knew something but she didn't want to say anything. " There's no way," Giselle said getting up from the bed.

I muttered angrily, blaming the moon goddess for this twisted fate. If only Olivia had a wolf, I wouldn't have to fight for her. My parents wouldn't refuse our mate bond. Sighing, I looked at the beautiful oil painting of Olivia that I had drawn on the left side of my living room walls. It was beautiful, almost real, like she was the one there. I pictured her reaction when I bring her to my home. Will she be happy to see it? I couldn't tell, but coming here brought solace to my heart. So I went upstairs to my room to freshen up and await nightfall.

Doctor Malcom forced our before he limped to the door and stepped out When we were alone again, I stared at Tara. She avoided eye contact with me, but her protective stance over Owen didn’t shift. “What are you looking at?” She glared. “Why are you doing this? Acting like this?” “Like what? Protective over my best—I mean my man?” I fixed her a look. “Tara Hawthorne.” “That is my name; why are you saying it?” “Years ago when I knew you, you called Owen the offspring of a science experiment between a Pug and a baboon.”

Hadn't reminded him of all the reasons that word should have been buried alongside everything else we'd lost. The room seemed smaller now, with just the two of us in it. The fire in the hearth burned brighter again, casting his shadow long across the floor until it nearly touched my feet. The bond between us hummed, no longer painful but alert. Waiting. Outside, an owl called into the night. Once, twice, three times — an omen of change, according to the old stories. A herald of truths soon to be revealed. Kael still hadn't turned to face me.

There was no way an omega's wolf eyes could be red; they were always purple, never red. . "Imagine thinking you could enjoy the party without the girls," Lisa, Jenny, Cathy, and two other girls said as they approached the couch opposite them, causing the current occupants to stand up. They all sat down, and Owen's gaze landed on Jenny, who winked at him while crossing her legs. She wore a mini blue jean skirt with a front cut that showcased her thighs, but he just rolled his eyes at her. "I heard you and Jenny have officially broken up. That’s really shocking, Owen," Cathy said, glancing at Orion, who was focused on his phone.

she scratched her neck, "Where don't you understand exactly?" Zachary pushed his laptop aside and leaned forward, the corners of his lips quirking upwards in a cruel smile, "Everything, nerd. Start explaining all over." "What?" A shriek escaped Olivia's lips as her eyes widened in horror. * OWEN'S HOUSE A knock sounded on Owen's room door and he ignored it, his mind fixated on the lyrics he was trying to compose. Yeah, he loves music a lot and hopes to form a band one day. "Owen, I'm coming in," he heard his mother's voice and she pushed his door open, entering the room and he rolled his eyes.

She was about to leave when she saw Owen handing out water rations to the displaced families. She fell in love with him on sight. After that, Delilah tried everything to get his attention. But Owen never so much as glanced her way. His eyes, his heart, had only ever been for me. When she saw our bond growing stronger, when she learned we were about to be mated, Delilah snapped. She poisoned the Alpha. She used the truth about the water contamination to blackmail the Beta into standing aside. She threw the entire Moonlight Pack into chaos.

Then trotted towards my room. It wasn't the end of the realm just yet. And exactly like Keyleth words, Aunt Aurelia stood cross armed in front of my door, the bridges of her shoulders so straight and even, there was no doubt why she was chosen as a general. “I’d start with what the fuck was that Oliver, but then that would be going against the orders your father laid for me.” Aunt Aurelia sighed when I got to her. “You have five goddamn minutes to shift out of your wolven form and meet me at the court yard.”
