It looked different at night, the water a moving ribbon of silver under a moon just past full, the air colder, sharper, close enough to the falls that I could feel the mist on my face before we'd even reached the pool's edge.
He spread a cloak over the same rock and sat, and after a moment, I sat beside him, closer than I needed to.
"You said we needed to talk." I watched the water instead of him, because it was easier to say what I meant that way. "So talk."
"I will." He was quiet a moment, choosing something carefully. "Ophelia isn't just a name to me. She wanted something from people I care about, years before any of this, and when she didn't get it easily, she made sure the getting cost
