The whole scene happened in seconds that didn't even leave the boys the time to react. "Sorry," Rose mumbled sheepishly while she made her way back to the dance floor, leaving the boys groaning in pain on the floor. She didn't do much harm to them as she knew the were only high school kids and a slight punishment would suffice as they didn't cause any harm to Lily either. He tilted his head to the side, the sick glint in his eyes spreading. "Do you not know why you're here?" I shook my head, words failing me. This was the lowest I'd been. My heart pounded and ached with frustration and an emotion that felt dangerously similar to anger.

Rose pouted. “Of course you do Rose, and you have beautiful hair, it’s why we chose your name”, Opal soothed as she brushed Rose’s hair. As Rose calmed to her mother’s practiced strokes, she heard her sigh and continue, “There will always be those that will speak ill of you in life. You need to rise above the trash talk, hold your head high and know that you are from good people, you do the best you can do and that is just gonna have to be good enough. There is no shame in being proud of who you are when you have a good heart and never stop trying.” She finished.

He couldn't say anything, just gawked at me. "look I'm sorry about what happened today, it's just that my mom...acts irrationally sometimes and she wasn't in a good mood today..."I stopped talking when I had run out of lies that I could use to cover up for my mom's rash behavior. "please tell her I'm sorry, but I need this job badly please madam..." He tried to kneel down, I placed a hand on his shoulder, preventing him from doing what he had in mind. How could I start explaining to him that nothing would make my mom change her mind?

You murdered that love with your own hands, and my life along with it. All I have for you in this life is hate." I took Luca's arm and walked past Carlo without looking back.
