The Serpent's Shadow Novels & Stories

The serpent, hidden among the shadows, would find Athena's defenses vigilant and impenetrable. As the veiled date approached, Maximus, with a calculated demeanor, maintained a public facade of unwavering focus on Athena's affairs. The serpent, deprived of its intended target, slithered in frustration. The unfolding chapters would reveal whether Maximus' cautionary steps were enough to quell the storm or if the serpent's venom would find an alternative target in the intricate tapestry of politics and alliances.

The water appeared cleaner somehow, its blackness transformed to merely deep blue, its perfect reflection now allowing normal ripples as he walked across its surface toward shore. Serena waited where he had left her, her violet eyes widening slightly as she beheld his latest transformation. The bone framework within his shadow-substance now glowed faintly with multi-coloured light that shifted in patterns reminiscent of choral harmonies. "Another trial completed," she observed dryly. "You collect them like a noble collects titles. What spiritual property have you incorporated this time?" "Perspective transcending mortal limitations," the Shadow Knight replied, his harmonic voice now carrying

“The weaver’s already here, hiding in the reflections.” Jessica stepped forward, the hollowness pulsing in time with the loom’s threads. “Show yourself,” she called, her voice echoing. “You called me here. Stop hiding.” The tapestry pulsed, and a figure emerged—not cloaked, not armored, but a woman, her features fluid, shifting between familiar faces: her mother, Echo, even Jessica herself. Her eyes were gray, like storm clouds, and her smile was a blade, sharp and knowing. “I am Sereth,” she said, her voice a silken thread. “The Shadow Weaver. And you, Jessica, are my masterpiece.”

A Silverclaw warrior screamed as one coiled around his leg, dissolving flesh to ash. "To the mast!" Selene barked, her blade cleaving through the dark. "They're drawn to fear!" "Or *blood*," Nyxara purred in my mind. I flexed my hand, and starlight erupted, scattering the shadows. But they regrouped swiftly, thicker now, forming shapes-wolves with hollow eyes, serpents with human faces. *The Ouroboros Clan's welcome.* Rhydian's serpents lashed out, no longer tattoos but living things, their fangs tearing through the shadows. Eden's daggers followed, each strike leaving trails of molten gold. But for every shadow severed, two more surged from the sea.

I dropped the food I was holding and also got the TV remote to lower the volume before turning towards Seth who was walking slowly into my ward already. "What is it, Seth? Why are you running like someone being chased like a hungry lion?" I asked, curiously staring at him. "If I was being chased by a hungry lion, I would have been happy. Alpha Barker is back and he's demanding we take the damn corpse we say is Amelia's away from his pack," Seth said. "What, how do you mean, Seth?" I asked. "He said we should bring Amelia to him that he still doesn't believe she's the one. He said he could only believe if we produced her face.

It is so dark here… I want to get out from here but I can’t move my hand and lags feels like I am paralyzed… Why? I am trying my best to move but I can’t. Why? Help! Help! I want to get out from here… soon I lost my hope… Unexpectedly, I saw someone swimming towards me giving me her hand and she is a girl… girl? I can’t see her face, I want to see her… who is she? It is so dark here; I want to see her but unfortunately… “Sam”, I heard someone is calling me, it sounds similar… I realized that,

When the man began talking, it felt like he was covering her body in warm honey. "I must apologize to you. I'm Alpha Gunnar of The Shadow Howlers. My head warrior showed me evidence that you had been kidnapping humans. When I looked closer at the evidence, I couldn't determine if what he said was true, so I wanted to do more investigating. Omar?" Alpha Gunnar looked at the warriors, and the large one in front stepped forward, his neck bare in submission. "Yes, alpha." He answered in more of a growl. "Why have you set out to destroy this pack?" Gunnar asked. However, it wasn't Omar who answered.

Together they rushed through the trees, branches tearing at their cloaks. In the clearing beyond, Lyra knelt on the ground, clutching her cursed arm as it blazed with searing light. Around her, shadows swirled—shapes not quite human, eyes glowing red in the dark. Serenya froze. She knew those creatures. She had seen them in Maelis’s visions. Whisper-born. The seer’s prophecy was unfolding faster than she had feared. Kaelen raised his blade. “Stay behind me.” Serenya shook her head, fire flaring at her fingertips. “Not anymore. The Pact chose me. And if these shadows want to silence us—”

The true war was only now beginning to stir in the dark. Suddenly, the shadow lunged forward and everything went black. John’s breath hitched as the shadow’s presence filled the chamber like an oppressive storm. The coldness wasn’t just physical it gnawed at his resolve, whispering doubts in his mind. Sarah stepped forward, her voice steady despite the fear clawing at her throat. “Show yourself. What do you want from us?” The shadow’s glowing eyes flickered with amusement. “What I want? Balance. A restoration of what was lost before your petty rituals disrupted the natural order.”

I look up. The moon. Huge, bloated, sickly pale. And sliding across it… impossibly vast, blotting out the stars… a shadow . Not cast. Alive . A silhouette of pure, devouring absence. The Devourer. Not a tidal wave anymore. A continent of hunger blocking out the sky. Its true scale. A yawning chasm of nothingness poised above us. The corrupted Arthur-thing throws back its head and shrieks again, a sound of triumph mixed with terror, at the shadow of its master. It dissolves, melting back into the churned, cursed earth of the altar, leaving only a stain and the echoing, bone-deep knowledge.
