I appeared in the new location and managed to stay standing. Over the next hour, I practiced moving through shadows, short distances at first. Then gradually longer ones, learning the limits of the ability. Learning how much energy each transition required. I also discovered I could do something else. When I pulled on the cold power without trying to move through space, something different happened. Shadows seemed to gather around me, cling to my skin like a cloak. I held up my hand and watched shadows swirl around my fingers. Not solid, but not quite intangible either. Like they were part of me now. Like I could shape them if I knew how.

Not necessarily, but the rest of it fits, I think. One colour, yeah – shadows are all dark. And the sun is yellow, orange, and red, and darkness is the opposite to the light of the sun. Any size and shape, yeah, that fits too. You can’t escape it…” I mumbled to myself.

It sounds like it was bumped into something stronger before falling… “Are you ok?” someone asked with his silvery voice. His voice flows from my ears to my heart. I slowly remove my hands, raise my head and open my eyes…

These places are heavily guarded by Shadow keepers. These creatures are like soldiers. They don't have a form or a shape. They are just shadows. They can take any shape and form based on their requirements. Whoever tries to break in and try to use the portal to open a doorway to the other world, the shadow keepers will kill them. They will only safeguard these portals and eliminate any threats or the people who offend them.
