There was also a desk with an uncomfortable-looking chair, a lamp and two books. One of the books was a blank notebook with a pen. The other was 'The Quiet of Solitude'. I recognized the author's name.

“This was pro level. Quiet. Fast. Efficient. Fuckin’ ghosts.” The room went silent, and it wasn’t peaceful. I opted to sleep in my underwear and my crop top, I was feeling warm and Silas threw off a lot of heat.

Reina’s POV “Liar.” The word stayed in the air between us. I looked up before I could stop myself. Rai was already watching me with that same unreadable look on his face, like he could see things I didn’t say. Like silence meant nothing to him. I quickly looked away again. My fingers moved to take the paper back, but he held it just out of reach. “Tell me,” he said, still calm. “Did you sleep badly because of the room… or because of me?”
