Silent Revenge

Silent Revenge

"I'm sorry, Grace. The forest really isn't safe. I have to find him. I promise I'll come back and finish this with you." I gave him a faint smile, though I could barely breathe through the pain in my chest. He would not come back once he left. That was always how it ended. As he bent down to comfort Laila, I quietly poured the bond-breaking potion into the wine glass. I walked over and held it out to him, my voice soft but firm. "Finish this, and I'll forgive you." Philip smiled and finished it in one gulp. He put the glass down and left with Laila without a second glance.

I enjoyed the book even with the errors, however, I would love to help with that being a retired secretary that knows what it must be like trying to write under pressure. Hit me up, and I can help with the errors. The story was costly being a retired woman, but I loved the ending.

Just started this long asian novel (read7%). The story is interesting although the FL is dramatic and always overreacting. The chapters are too short so I'm still not sure where the story is going other than that they're newlyweds who are getting to know each other. Not sure if I'll finish.

Whisper of the Silence

Whisper of the Silence

"This hotel belongs to your uncle?" Nodding, he pillowed his head and lay on the floor, giving a click to the remote he held. The vault switched to a transparent top. "Here is where I speak to the silence, blame the world, and shed my tears." That somehow dimmed the glow hopping on her hand. She took a seat next to him. Under the soothing lights, his sharp facial features stood out even more, and so did his bottled loneliness. She understood the familiar silence. It was whispering, yearning to be heard after years of being ignored.

This book can be read as a standalone but if you are curious about the history read The Bad Boy's Problem (book 1) and The Debt Collector (Book 2). They are available here & completed :)

VERY VERY VERY GOOOD! Thankfully I read the Debt Collector first by accident. This was a very good sequel. I agree with another post that said that Shane got off to easily. I envisioned him getting tortured by Alex for years. Loved Suri in her book and I loved Serena in this one. Noah was great too.

If not love, Whatelse?

If not love, Whatelse?

She slowly got herself out of the bed, her mind still replaying last night… Williams’ eyes, his voice, that unspoken weight pressing between them. “Why does he stare at me like that?” She murmured. Enough. Today, she wouldn’t drown in old memories. She needed… something. She got dressed fully, Pulling her jacket tighter, she stepped outside and walked briskly until the small bookstore came into view. The bell above the door chimed softly as she slipped inside. Her eyes wandered in search of that one book till she saw it: “The weight of silence.” Her breath caught. She pulled it down, fingers brushing the cover. The woman’s voice echoed in her mind: “That book is about healing”

Frequently Asked Questions

I've read everything Alex Michaelides has written since 'The Silent Patient' blew up. Honestly, 'The Maidens' didn't hit the same notes for me—it felt slower, more atmospheric, almost like a dark academia vibe with the Greek tragedy elements woven in. The suspense is less about a shocking twist at the very end and more about a creeping, paranoid dread as the main character gets in over her head. Still kept me turning pages, but I missed the tight, locked-room feeling of his debut.

His latest, 'The Fury', tries something structurally different. It's told in a very conversational, almost gossipy way by the narrator, which creates its own kind of tension because you're constantly questioning how reliable he is. The suspense builds from that unreliable narration and the closed-circle setup on a private Greek island. It's less of a pure psychological thriller puzzle and more of a character-driven unraveling of relationships and secrets. Not his strongest plot, maybe, but the mood is impeccable.
