The Smile Has Left Novels & Stories

I pulled the SIM card out and tossed it into the fire. It was time. The plane lifted off, and the city's towers shrank below me, smaller and smaller, until they vanished completely. Goodbye forever, Adrian.

You finally understood my expressions. You finally saw the pain and hope hidden behind my smile. Too bad... I'm already gone.

" I looked down at his stubborn yet fragile grip on my hand. In the end, I sighed and pushed him away. "We're over, Eugene."

A strange, feverish light flickered in her eyes. "Sienna, Adrian will lose his mind without me. Please... just let me go." My tears rolled down my face and fell onto her hand. She leaned closer and slowly licked them away. "Weren't we best friends, Leola? You always gave me everything. Now, I'm only asking for your face... and Adrian." Her lips curved into a smile. "You should be grateful. You would've been dead long ago if my face hadn't been ruined so suddenly."

"And then he left." A man who smiled when he was expelled knew something you didn't. That smile was a message - not to Caius, not to Kael. But to me. We will meet again, that smile said. And next time I will not be asking.

“But the electricity is going off again tonight.” The words landed in my chest before my brain had fully processed them. “So?” The word came out two degrees less steady than I intended. He smiled. Not the sharp, combative smile. Something slower. More considered. And then he turned and walked out of the room without another word, leaving the smile behind him like something deliberately placed. I stood in the middle of the displaced furniture and felt my heart rate do something entirely outside my control. I looked out the window. At the sky beyond it, still light, still hours away from the dark.

The evil smile is back on my face. "Stop talking."

I looked back trying to act like I was avoiding him but the smile still creeps me out. "Why are you smiling? It's creepy so stop it." I said, trying to avoid him. He's been smiling ever since we left the hospital. It's just creepy seeing a smile from him. That rarely happens when he is around me. It was either a smirk or a stupid grin saying he proved me wrong. I hate that stupid grin.
