I swatted his shoulder, laughing, before stealing a kiss. He caught me around the waist and spun me in a circle, my laughter echoing over the water.
We paused to watch the sun sink into the ocean, the sky painted with streaks of orange, pink, and gold. He held me from behind, his chin resting on my shoulder. It was quiet, still, sacred.
“That,” he whispered, “is the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen.”
