The Heart of a Luna
His smile is warm, genuine, but the fear in his eyes is real and naked.
The Towers are dead ahead. The path leading to it is cracked and dirty. Weeds grow through the gaps in the cobbles, and creepers grow over the path like snakes, trying to tangle around our feet and trip us up.
Wordlessly, I rush ahead, my heart breaking when I see The Towers.
They don’t look the same.
I run to my favourite one, The Balance, and touch her. She pulsates under my fingers. She resonates on a different frequency now, discordant with the rest of the world. Thick black veins run through the once beautiful rose-coloured obelisks that reach up beyond the clouds.
