I called, my voice trailing off as I watched him disappear down the hallway, heading to the hall where the party was still ongoing. I chewed on my lower lips, plunging my fingers into my styled raven dark hair. What was Dad discussing with a dangerous man like Vincenzo? Yes. I knew absolutely nothing about that man who sent shivers slashing down my spine, but I could tell he wasn’t a good person. I could feel it deep in my guts. Reaching out to my purse, I grabbed my phone and turned it on, typing against the keyboard as I searched for the name ‘Vincenzo.’

She sniffled and flipped it over. "I thought I could handle them on my own, but those people are backed up by someone powerful. Alpha kelvin, Beta Leon, Gamma Theo and others I don't yet know about, seek this book. It holds great powers, enough to turn a mortal into a god. I have no idea why it was left with you but I'm sure you'll figure it out. But first, you need to find out who you really are and where you came from. I'm sure that will answer all the questions you have in your heart. I'm sorry we weren't able to protect you until the end."

Listen, honey, there's a lot you don't know about the supernatural world and our kind. "There's a lot you don't know" is a phrase I'm sick of hearing. Yes, I don't know much about your kind, as you both keep telling me, but I'd appreciate it if you could teach me more. So, could you tell me everything I don't know, so I don't get scared every time I see something new? I hollered. Gabriel shook his head. Did someone tell you that when you're angry, you're scary? He muttered.

I then open it and it automatically connects to the WiFi. I open my emails and I see that I have a bunch of new ones. One of them catches my attention though, I think it is because it is from Cassandra. I open it and I read it. She is thanking me greatly for helping her, and she says that she owes me one. That’s nice of her, but I only did what I had to do. The fact I didn’t take any form of payment from her reminds me of Detective Oliver words. Him saying that he believes that there is good in me and I just have to see it myself.

A clean, contained thing. I looked at the boy arranging marshmallows into a pattern only he understood. I looked at the man sitting quietly across from me, one thumb tracing the rim of his mug. I took a sip of the hot chocolate, warm and slightly too sweet and exactly right, and understood, for the first time since stepping off that plane, that the thing I had been escaping toward had already shifted into something I hadn't planned for at all. I wasn't sure yet whether that was frightening or the opposite of it.

“You are the bride of a god.” Her breath caught. “Bride… of a god?” Her fingers tightened around the ring. “What bride?What God” She has never met any God let alone to consent to any marriage. Wait he couldn’t possibly mean his bride right? She gasped as it dawned on her she was referring to himself. So he is a God? Ivana stood there confused as several thoughts flooded her mind. “Yes, mortal.” His eyes bore into her. “And being bound to you…” His jaw clenched. “Only deepens my hatred for humans.”

Antonia murmured softly, her eyes locked onto Portia's with that unyielding, quiet ferocity. "They can look all they want, but they only see what we let them see. They don't know about the sketchbook, they don't know about the couch, and they don't have a single clue about where we’re going next year. This is the reality, Portia. Right here."

I gave him a weak smile, relief washing over me at the sight of him unharmed. “You did well,” the goddess murmured as she finished her healing. “Rest for a moment.” But I shook my head, urgency tightening my throat. “The book,” I said hoarsely. “The one Kia’s father mentioned. Something about a guide on how to train Kia's dormant powers. Do you know about it?” The goddess studied me for a moment before snapping her fingers. In an instant, a large, leathered book appeared in her grasp and she held it out to me.

It spoke of gods, dragons, and magic that I would had thought to be impossible if it weren't for everything we've recently been through. For now, I kept it to myself. Gabe didn't need another worry, and Sebastian... well, he was in no state to care. So, I tucked the book away, letting its mystery gnaw at the back of my mind. Curses and spells, blood and destiny, it was all tied together. It said you can't undo without undoing all and I wasn't sure what it meant, but I knew it was a warning. An omen of something dark to come if not heeded. "Sleep, love." Gabe whispered in my ear. He knew my mind was not at ease. How could it be? Too much was unknown.

A mortal asking to know my name, the name that once shook worlds and silenced armies? “You dare,” I said, my voice low and thunderous, “to ask the name of one who once ruled realms beyond your petty comprehension? I am Khyronis, Lord of Shadows That Bind. A god who walked among stars and now descends to tread upon your wretched soil. My name is not for the likes of you to utter casually, mortal. It is a whisper feared in the dark recesses where true power lingers.” I spoke, expecting the weight of my words to crush them to their knees.
