The warmth in my chest responded, pulsing in time with the stone. "She's right," I said. "The wall is alive." "How is that possible?" Lyra asked, rushing over. "Walls don't breathe." "These walls do," I said. "They were built with the circle. With our warmth. They're connected to us." "So the walls are part of us now?" Tessa asked. "Part of the circle?" "Yes," I said. "And that means something is changing." "What kind of change?" Silas asked. I didn't have an answer. I could feel the warmth spreading through the walls, through the floor, through every stone we had laid. Sanctuary was becoming something more than a shelter. It was becoming alive.

POV: Wolfy A book was a dangerous thing. A sword could cut you. A bullet could pierce you. But a book? A book could rewrite the software of your mind. It could change the parameters of your reality without firing a single shot. I sat in the corner of the barracks common room. The leather-bound volume heavy in my lap. Across from me, Neoma traced the letters on the page with a finger that still trembled slightly from the aftershocks of the Wastes.

Then he vanishes us away. When my feet hit the ground I look around in wonder at the incredible room around us, slowly turning to take it all in. We’re in an immense tower of some kind, the wall stretching so high that I can barely make out the glass ceiling. An incredible telescope takes up most of the view of the upper levels anyway, and every single inch of the rounded walls of the tower are covered in bookshelves filled with thousands and thousands of books, all reachable by spindly little ladders and rickety wooden staircases that climb up and up and up.

awesome continuity... please if you continue for the other characters, show it in the description like you did for the book 2. there's another book with the same names of Ellie and Dominic and I was confused. I really hope there's a Rafe and Mark book.

The story-line carried well throughout the entire book until the ending. The ending seemed abrupt, rushed and lacked content/drama that could have been built for additional spin offs and left too many things unaddressed.

That evening Nora sat at her kitchen table with the window open and the city noise coming in and she thought about walls. She had very good ones. She'd built them after the thing she didn't talk about the year she'd spent in a kind of internal demolition, examining every structure she'd built her life on and deciding which were worth keeping. The walls had been kept. They were efficient and they were tested and they had done exactly what she'd asked them to do for three years. The problem with very good walls, she thought, was that they didn't distinguish. They kept out the things that wanted to hurt you. They also kept out the things that might not.

The Wrong Vow, My Perfect Match Book Two: The Green Dawn Chapter 223: Beyond the Last Page The bell's final note faded. Silence followed. Not empty silence. The kind that exists before the first word of a new story. Ama looked toward the endless ceiling of living roots. "Someone outside our story..." She repeated softly. "What does that mean?" The child smiled. "It means stories have neighbors." Harbor chuckled. "I thought stories had endings." "They do." The child nodded.

The movement of my hand was smooth, steady, and unhurried as I touched the tip to the final blank slat of the palm ledger to record the closing thoughts of Chapter 141: We built no towers and commanded no servers. We had only the weight of iron keys, the rough surface of linen paper, and the courage of those who passed the pages along in the dark. The capital built its walls to keep the world out, but the truth was never a fortress—it was always a river. The line has reached the sea, and the ledger is finally, peacefully complete. Julian, Yusuf, and Ibrahim stood beside me as the ink dried in the morning sun. The sky above was broad and clear, the water below was open and deep, and the sto

I stepped further inside, intending to wait by the couch, but the room's clean aesthetic caught my attention. It was the kind of space that would definitely distract anyone’s attention. Everything in it was deliberate. The wide desk, the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the motorised curtains all made the place look orderly and precise. I couldn’t stop myself from taking in the breathtaking view. The books on the shelf and the system architecture. Then I stopped. My eyes landed on a slim dark volume near the edge of the second shelf. The spine was black with silver lettering. Breach Protocol “D”

“Why?” A pause behind me. Then— “I don’t need to.” I turned. He was closer now. Not invading. But present. More present than he had been all day. Because here— There were no observers. No Charles. No board. No system to maintain. Only us. ⸻ I walked slowly through the space, taking it in. Glass walls overlooking the city. A single bookshelf, organized, untouched. A desk—different from the one at the office, but just as precise.

“Maybe I just want to understand what made him build all these walls.” Ronan let out a breath of laughter, but it wasn’t amused. It was bitter. “That’s the thing about men like Allerick. They don’t build walls to keep you out. They build them to protect you from what’s already in.” Then he turned and walked away, leaving her standing before a door that wouldn’t open. Just like him. That night, Leora sat in the grand library, a book open on her lap. She stared at the words, but nothing registered. The mansion felt like a living thing—breathing, watching, waiting. Its silence was not peace, but pressure. The kind that made your bones ache.

The walls had an unnatural shine to them. It didn't look like water, nor anything I’d seen in a kitchen before. My stomach twisted, mind racing faster than a bullet as I reached out to touch the walls. My fingers were wet instantly, drenched in a liquid I didn't have a name for. I brought my hand to my nose and the realisation hit instantly. Gasoline Someone had poured gasoline near the walls, the floor, everything. Fuck.
