Novel & Cerita The Wicked King Book

Meguitte was not sure that her eyebrows could rise higher until they did, her chin sinking to her chest until she watched the woman through her eyelashes in utter disbelief. “The good queen pleaded for mercy for her people, and the evil, wicked king said that he would grant it if she sent him three sparrows from every household. It was a weird request, but the good queen could not find any wrong in it, and so every household sent him three sparrows. But the king was truly wicked, and he set the birds alight and sent them back to burn her kingdom to the ground, along with everyone in it,” the blonde finished with satisfaction.

His smirk deepened, enjoying the way Ragnor’s body trembled with resistance—resistance that was failing. “What the hell are you doing?! Why the hell can you use magic? Wolves don’t have magic!" I spat. The king turned his gaze to me and laughed darkly. "Oh, but I do," he murmured, as if explaining something simple to a child. "That is why I am the king." Ragnor let out a strangled growl, his body still convulsing. "You’re no king. You’re a goddamn monster!" The king let out a soft chuckle.

“Waiting… for what? To tear me apart? To kill me? Or… or to make me his?” Bella tilted her head, her expression grave. “All three. And none. That’s how the King operates. He doesn’t negotiate. He doesn’t ask. He takes. And yet…” Her voice softened, almost wistful. “…he protects. And that is something you have to understand.”

The werewolf king killed anyone who dared to utter such claims. "Did you hear something, Luna?" Both Luna Mira and I leaned closer, eager for information. I never liked that king; no one did. He was crude and often brought women to his castle as gifts for his friends and allies. He was a lustful man who was neither a good nor a fair leader. "Well, today is—"

It's like an oversized child being hugged. "I wish your suffering had been ended sooner... We don't fear you. We trust you with Karina. You completed the final shift. I remember that lesson in school. Only a being of pure heart who has experienced great suffering can become King... Welcome to the family, King Atticus," Dad says before he drops his arms and steps back.

“The werewolves will unite. In fact, Darren is on track to become Alpha King of all the werewolves.” The chief’s lip curled. “Alpha King, eh? Is that so?” “Yes. And I will be his Luna Queen.” My pulse throbbed. What the hell was I doing? What was I saying? “You think you can manipulate me because I have a kind heart,” I somehow managed to go on, my voice growing cold despite the terror coursing through my veins. “But a kind heart isn’t a weakness. It’s a strength. And if you don’t grant equal rights to every single person—werewolf and human alike—if you continue to fan the flames of these riots, these protests... I won’t negotiate at all.”

“I have next to me the kingdom’s chosen magician. He was personally supported by our very king who mysteriously died after marrying this creature. Monarchs aren’t magicians. They are strong leaders of pure lineage. This imposter stands before you, admitting that she is a mixture of magic and Fae, while supporting and praising the abomination of mutant-vampires. She claims she was chosen by our king to be her wife, but I -who served next to him- have no recollection of such a choice. What I have a recollection of is our good king being offered a human wife that he could make vampire after their wedding in exchange for an alliance. There was no mention of the fact that she was half Fae.”

"See? There he is!" The queen put her hands around the puppet king and danced him around the stage. "Now my entire kingdom will worship me, and I can laugh at what fools they all are!" Aurora was too stunned to speak. She watched in horror as the narrator continued. "Years passed and the wicked queen laughed because of her own cleverness. Eventually the wise prince grew in stature and brilliance." The narrator pointed to a new actor, one with shining armor and blond hair. "When he was out slaying yet another dragon for his queen, a strange visitor came to him."

"Zavian's. He can help us." He shakes his head. "This could be at his hand." "It's not, I mean, your guards turned against you, considering none came to your aid right away. Zavian has no motive to do that to you, when I'm in the manor," I explain. There's little point arguing to him that I know Zavian's character, and I have no doubt that the newly appointed King would never do such a thing. Vaia smiles wickedly from amidst the shadows. "Your little wife is telling you Zavian wants her alive and not you. How charming."

Someday, I want to run around the castle in my wolf form. “I’ve heard the other generals are pressing the King to throw you out and reject the child,” Harbin shares. “You are not a general. You are the head librarian and only take care of my education. How would you know that?” “If the King really throws you out, you need education so that you and your child will survive outside,” he says as if he didn’t hear my response. “You are right about him throwing me out,” I jest. “I am useless. I’m nothing but his whore.”
