The exile is such a perfect, painful cliffhanger because it strips Jude of everything she fought for—title, home, influence—and leaves her with only the bitter knowledge that her enemy-king might be the one person who truly understood the stakes. The twist doesn't just change the plot; it permanently changes the relationship, setting up the desperate stakes of 'The Queen of Nothing' perfectly.
