There Is No Devil Novels & Stories

“So you agree, Maggie?” “How can you not? I’m by no means religious, nor do I pretend to be, but I’m not blind to the world. If there is a God, a greater good, then there must be a devil and a greater evil to balance it out. The greater evil is in the people sitting on both death row and a park bench. If there is a hell, it’s most definitely empty. Ask anyone who has been unfortunate enough to come into contact with one of those people and has demons of their own left over. They’ll tell you that the devils are here disguised as one of us.” “So you’re saying you could be sitting among devils and not know it?” Her eyebrow raised and she paused in her pacing.

It was time for him to meet the rumoured devil and his men. “Wait, who am I kidding?” He laughed, “It’s not as if the devil will notice me even if I’m one of the strippers dancing on the pole.” Everyone knows the devil is a player, but no one has seen him with any woman. There hadn't even been a single scandal about him. It wasn’t as if Kon had seen him in person. However, the things he has heard about the devil were more than enough. He took a deep, steady breath before he entered the room.

For two hours. Freya thought she had allergies. When they finally stopped sobbing, Inner Devil 2 said, ‘Okay. Let’s be real. We’re stuck. So, let’s awaken the devil in Freya.’ Inner Devil: ‘Good luck to us. She’s got standards so high, NASA couldn’t reach them.’ Inner Devil 2: ‘Still, if heaven sent us here, maybe we are the right devils for the job.’ Inner Devil: ‘I mean, technically, we work for Satan, but I guess God outsourced us.’

the father said. "I don't believe in the devil too much in this world, just a lament. If there were indeed gods or demons in this world, there would be no need for police officers like us. We try to defend the people from the evil guys; if gods truly existed, the bad guys would not exist to harm mankind."

I interjected sharply before she could even finish what she was saying. "He is not who you think he is!" I lowered my voice so our conversation does not reach prying ears. "Mom, what I am about to tell you is very serious, please do not think that I am insane or suffering from hallucinations, I know what I saw. The Devil is not a man, he is not a human being, he is something else, he is not from this world, you have to get us out of this house, out of this god forsaken country, mom!" Mom did not appear to be the slightest bit shocked, after all the crazy things I said, she was indifferent. I didn't understand it.

The baby stirred, a calm, steady pulse. Aunt Dee watched quietly from a distance, understanding settling into her expression. The ancestors’ voices echoed one last time through the realm: “The devil’s greatest act of defiance is not destruction— It is devotion.” Far away, the hunters drew closer. But for the first time since the prophecy began, Malik knew exactly where he stood. And he would not move.

His words only made Nora run faster as she cried invisible tears. God! Why couldn’t she just stop getting herself into trouble with the devil? The end…

“Second, you won’t lie or make any deal with her. Create situations in which you could trick her.” He narrowed his eyes on her. “And you must not try to manipulate her to turn her against me. Which means we must let things follow their natural paths, according to Lily's own choices. You can answer her questions, of course, but never try to make up her mind or beg her not to accept me.” The Devil explained, and Mia thought that was good enough. “If you fail, you’ll leave us be, forever.”

That night she came to dinner wearing shorts, she looked so fucking sexy and I wanted to send every one of my men out of the dining room and fuck the shit out of her on the dining table but I quickly brushed the thought off because what the fuck. Watching her sleep so peacefully made my heart start beating differently, I didn’t even know that shit still works. In my ‘line of work’, people refer to me as The Devil and I love that nickname. My hand involuntarily reached out to tuck a strand of her hair but I stopped and got up when I heard Gio come in. Thank God he didn’t see that. “Oh, why is our princess sleeping on a couch?” Gio said “Don’t know, don’t care” I answered as I loosened my tie
