I said. The December night. The building around us. The radiator. The train. Noah breathing. The collection forming. The gate every day. Eight days to December fourteenth. The correct amount.

I forced the tremor from my voice. Swallowing the rising dread as I asked, “When would he be coming?” Sophie barely looked up. Casually brushing flour off her hands. “In four days I think.” Four days. The words echoed. Detonated in my skull like a bomb. I nodded slowly. Numbly. As if that information hadn’t just shattered the ground beneath me. “I’ll miss you guys too,” I said softly. My voice layered with a fragile sweetness I didn’t feel.

In fact, I kinda felt pretty good. "Is it finally coming to an end?" I asked with a hint of excitement. "Not really. You still have like four days or so," He answered with a serious tone, his lips pressing into a thin line. "Four days?!?" I screeched, feeling like throwing myself out the fucking window as I let myself fall back into those fluffy pillows, reeling with utter exasperation and dejection. Four days? What the fuck!?! It's been only three and I've barely managed to hold myself in check and endure so far. How the hell was I supposed to get through four more?

She looked at the whiteboard. “Day 10 is over,” she said. “4 to go.” ---

The very nice weather turn into a dark clouds with a bad weather, it's like the heaven was also sharing the pain that Betty and Felix were feeling at that moment. Betty slowly felt the pain and fading like a candle when she heard that her husband Simon was gone. She was kneeling on the floor while crying in vain. Felix runs beside her mother Betty when he saw her kneeling and then she tapped her back and trying to calm her down from sobbing so hard.

He looked at me, his expression serious, like he knew his answer was going to hit me hard. “Four days,” he said, his voice quiet, trailing off like he was trying to soften it. Four days. The words landed like a blow, knocking the air out of me. I stared at him, my mouth open, words stuck in my throat as my mind scrambled to make sense of it. *Four days?* How could I have lost four whole days? My heart raced, a frantic beat that made my chest ache, and I felt like everything was slipping away from me.

I force out a shaky laugh that dies in my throat. “Thanks for the lunch. I’m outta here.” I turn and bolt for the door. My fingers barely graze the handle when a hand catches my wrist. I turn around and see that it’s Evren. “Let go, Evren!” I spin around, anger flooding back to life. “I’m leaving. I’ll grab a cab or something, I can’t be in the same room as you—” “One hundred days,” he says in his usual indifferent voice. The words stop me cold. “What?”

Steph presses the button that reads two and the doors close. As soon as the doors close I immediately let out a deep breath. “Oh man Steph, how am I going to survive the next 37 days here? I don’t fit in here at all. I’ve only met a few people and they already seem to hate me” I say leaning against the elevator wall. “They’re probably sitting there right now laughing at me.”

Cassian’s gaze found mine, and something flickered, warm and soft, before shutting away again. “Talia,” he said. Just my name. Simple. But it slammed right into me. “I’m glad you’re here.” I opened my mouth. I know what you did for me. I know what you risked. But the rigid tension in the room swallowed the words. Nicole shut the door behind us. Silence settled, quiet but suffocating. Cassian spoke first. “We have four days.” The number hit harder now that I’d heard it twice.

Tyson smirked. “31 Days.” Chance affirmed. “Which Day was today”? He asked. “Ninth.” Dr. Tyson added. “Twenty two days to go, man I am gonna savor these.” with a devilish smirk, Chance declared.
