“Esther didn’t intend to make you worry.”
“Esther will always have my forgiveness,” Cynthia says. “It’s you that I don’t know about.”
“Cynthia,” I lightly scold.
She totally ignores me, barreling forward. “I don’t care how important you are, Esther is my best friend and one of the kindest people in the world. If you mess this up, at all… If you make her cry or anything else, they won’t find the body, got it?”
It seems unwise to threaten a candidate running for president, but Cynthia is unapologetic.
