“I haven’t spoken to Rose in a long time. We’re not friends anymore. That’s actually why I left the Blue Lagoon Pack. I don’t know anything about her now.” I said nothing, my gaze falling to the untouched glass of cognac in front of me. My jaw tensed as I silently cursed the situation. Another dead end. I’d hoped Lucy could be a useful pawn—maybe even a hostage—but if she and Rose had cut ties, she was worthless to my plan. What a waste of time. Lucy, however, seemed more affected by the memory of their fallout than I expected. Her expression grew darker as she downed the rest of her drink. Without waiting, she called out to the bartender with a tipsy slur, “Two more Martinis, please!”

He gently grabbed my sleeve and asked if he would ever see me in the future. I shook my head. I turned and walked away quickly, not once looking back at him. So that day, one went up the mountain and the other took the route by the river. That’s how we said goodbye, and hoped that our paths never crossed again.

He forcefully pulled Luke’s arm out of Kristy’s grip and dragged him out of the infirmary. When they arrived at the den, Christina was already gone. Her room was empty—only a broken moonlight necklace and an old photo of the four of them remained. How happy they looked back then. Luke stared at the photo in silence, as if lost in memories of a better time. "Where did you go, Mom?" Chris’s voice cracked as tears streamed down his face. "Please come back… no one can take your place in my heart!" Collin clutched the photo tightly, his throat choking with grief.

“Cole. Shut up.” Jake warns and he quickly glances at us before shrugging. “I'm just saying.” Lucas sighs and shakes his head. “Let’s just get home.” He says and Evan nods his head. “I agree.” As we walk away I glance back, taking one last look towards the Crescent Moon territory. The tracks disappear into the trees, faint, almost like they want to be forgotten. Maybe they do. Maybe someone wants us to stop here. But we won’t. “We aill figure this out, Asher. We always do.”

Maya. I cursed under my breath and leaned against the counter, staring at the shards scattered across the tiles. A part of me wanted to leave them there, let them cut into my feet until I bled, just so the pain would make sense. But another part of me hated the mess, hated how it reminded me of what she said the night she left. “You ruin everything you touch, Alvarez. Even me.” I squeezed my eyes shut, hearing her voice like it was yesterday. I wanted to scream, to tear through the silence of this apartment, but the only sound was the ringing in my head.

He raised his hand and slapped himself a few times. "Are we okay now?" Lucy merely looked at him calmly and said, "Nope. Wyatt, we no longer have any connection to each other. Please don't come to look for me anymore." That had felt like a final decision. It was a death sentence that blew out any remaining hope left in Wyatt. "Why? Lulu… Why? Have you fallen for someone else?" Lucy said icily, "What does that have to do with anyone else? Wyatt, sometimes once a love is over, it's truly gone!"

"But I can't anymore. Day after day of your games wore me down, and I don't have any love left to give you. We're never ever getting back together." She broke down completely, crying so hard she could barely breathe. It was obvious she truly regretted it, but it was too late. In the end, Lucy left, drained and defeated. I had just turned around when I bumped into my neighbor, Yvonne Brown. She didn't even flinch, smirking as if eavesdropping wasn't a problem. "I didn't think you were this irresistible, Chubs. Looks like your ex still hasn't gotten over you."

We had been driving all day, the sun setting as I got further to the countryside, heading north and away from where I had originally got Lucy. I hadn’t left out a single detail, wanting her to know exactly what we were dealing with. “Fuck…” she said after a minute, sinking back into her chair. “All that; for this.” She twisted her bracelet in the fading light, the blue stone casting small shimmer everywhere in the car. “Thank you.”

Just commitment. Lucy found me before the ceremony. She looked healthier than she had in weeks, some color back in her cheeks. "I wanted to wish you luck," she said quietly. "And to tell you that I'm happy for you. Truly happy. You and Alpha Lucian are good together." "Thank you. That means a lot." "I'm leaving," she said suddenly. "After the ceremony. I'm going to join the Mountain Peak Pack. Alpha Sarah offered me a place there. A fresh start."
