The champagne glass had shattered in his hand. Champagne ran between his fingers, mixed with blood, but Carlos didn’t seem to notice. He kept staring at her like he was still trying to process what she had said. A chill ran down Ana’s arms. That reaction wasn’t normal. “Carlos,” Marcos called. No response. Ana glanced between the two men, confused. “Carlos.” This time Marcos walked over quickly, discreetly stepping between them as he took a napkin from one of the waiters. Only then did Carlos blink.

Mark shook his head as he took a sip from a bottle of beer. “Forget about it,” I heard Mark say. “Why the hell would you think I could just forget?” Troy yelled. Shock and anger color Trevor’s voice as he turns towards Mark, shaking his head exasperation at the pleading look on his friend’s face. “Because I told you so, damn it! We’re going to enjoy the rest of the night; after all, the drinks are on the same man who tried to kill me.” I stopped and Mark gave me a death stare as if he was warning me about something.
