‘Tease.’ He smirked. ‘Your tease.’ “Okay, Nyx is very large, I may need some space.” I said. I step back from Aiden and kneel on the ground. Nyx pulls the shift and this time it is a lot easier. When she finally appears, Mia, Luca and Dr. Higslee have wide eyes and smiles on their faces. “Fascinating! Simply marvelous!” Dr. Higslee said happily. “Well, doc. Are you ready for me to pull away?” Nyx said.

“I want her under observation for the first month.” “The Alpha’s wolf has accepted her,” the lead elder said. “The Alpha’s wolf accepts a great many things that turn out to be problems,” Kira said, and left. The elders dismissed Nyx without ceremony. A servant named Elara was waiting outside the chamber doors—a slight, dark-haired woman who moved with the quiet efficiency of someone who had learned to be useful without calling attention to herself. She smiled when she saw Nyx and it was genuine enough to be startling. Nyx couldn’t remember the last time someone had smiled at her without wanting something.

Are they using spells here? Thorax, I called my wolf silently, why do you keep showing me signs without revealing the full truth? But he didn’t answer. That meant only one thing — something was wrong. I quickened my steps. As I reached the east wing, I saw her. Nyx. Collapsing. “NYX!” I shouted, running to her. She was on the floor. Limp. Unmoving.
