Sindy Kate was typing an answer to her viewers. I scrolled down the menu after buying coins. I scanned through the lists of pricing for the girls to do the act according to the viewers’ requests. My lips dried instantly to see the price for the private chat. My heart started to pumped wildly in my chest to the thought of talking to Sindy Kate. What if she recognizes my voice? The voice! He had taken to his lowly role as stable boy without complaint. His introduction to the surface world had been quite intense, and he was more than happy to take a back seat, for now at least. He was still a prince and no doubt would want to play a bigger role eventually, but that was okay. I was sure there’d be an opportunity for him to get himself killed spectacularly at some point. Nyx’s form was graceful, her figure woven from shadows and light, her midnight hair flowing as though carried by an unseen breeze. Her dark eyes held Zoe’s, filled with knowing and something else - expectation. "Zoe," Nyx’s voice echoed, a soft yet commanding murmur that seemed to touch Zoe’s very soul. "Tonight, I show you the path you must walk."

I whispered. The charm sank into my skin. It didn’t pierce. It spread. Like ink in water. Cold and dark and permanent. The power settled deep, coiling tight. My vision cleared. In the reflection of the glass railing, my eyes stared back. Amber. Ringed faintly with black. Nyx smiled, satisfied. “Good girl,” she said. She waved her hand and an image bloomed in the air. Vera and Gabriel, moving fast through trees. A research compound crouched ahead, half-hidden by forest and steel.

When she dropped her little baby girl off at the human hospital in Montana, she named her Nyx Aurora. Her little girl's hair changed from black to blond but her Emerald green eyes stayed the same. Her pointed ears rounded off to look like human ears. Luna kissed her daughter goodbye as the nurse took her and then she ran back to the portal and closed it off to the Windfall Kingdom, for as long as it would stay closed.

Nyx materializes, her Fae glamour shimmering slightly in the fading light. "Are you certain about this?" she asks, her voice low and musical. "Once we set this in motion, there's no turning back." I laugh, the sound harsh and brittle. "I've never been more certain of anything in my life. Do it." Nyx nods, her fingers weaving an intricate pattern in the air. Silvery threads of magic coalesce, forming a shimmering web that settles over the clearing where Xander and Lyra stand. To the untrained eye, nothing has changed. But I know better.

Shadow snarled beneath that anger, eager to turn around and tear through every mile between them and his territory. And Nyx stood at attention, a little bit torn. Because she considered Myles and Derek her people, too. They were already connected, already formed a packlink, even though they weren’t technically from the same pack. But Nyx made up her mind, and paced restlessly inside her, tugging her focus back to the dark stretch of forest ahead. “We can’t go there now,” she said quietly. Zeke’s gaze snapped to hers. For a second, she thought he would argue. His pack was just as important as her father. Then he looked back at the trees.

She rambled in a high-pitched voice. Kieran. The name sent a ripple through me, but before I could fully process it, something even more astonishing happened –Nyx. I FELT Nyx.
