The bedroom light clicked on, flooding the small space with a gentle glow. The room was simple, almost spartan in its furnishings. A small bed stood against the wall, a nightstand with a lamp beside it, a modest dresser, and a narrow window overlooking the city lights outside. Through the glass, the distant buildings twinkled like scattered stars against the dark sky. Nothing luxurious. Nothing fancy. Just comfortable, a safe haven carved from what little they had. Nina pulled back the blanket and patted the mattress, the fabric soft from years of washing. "Alright, champ," she said with a grin, trying to inject some playfulness into the moment.

The color completely drained from his face. "Maya," Liam said, his voice dropping into a tense, urgent register. "Don't press any buttons on that." I turned fully around, my breath catching in my throat. Maya was staring down at her open palm. Resting perfectly in the center of her hand was a tiny, intricate piece of matte-black hardware. Outside, a streetlamp stood on the corner, its light already off in the daylight. I was in the dark about such intimate plans, yet Selena was in the know before me.

A faint, flickering light seemed to emanate from that direction, casting eerie shadows on the walls. Aria's curiosity was piqued, and she squinted her eyes to take a better look. The light was soft and reddish, like the glow of embers or the spark of flint. It seemed to pulse with a life of its own, and Aria felt an inexplicable sense of unease as she gazed upon it.

I am about to give up and go back to sleep for several more decades when I see it- a tiny light. It looks like it is far off in the distance when, in reality, it is right in front of my face. Slowly, I reach out my hand and touch the ball of light. Leaning forward, I squint my eyes and look through it as if it were a peephole. I can see the outline of three figures arguing with one another in a tiny room.

Just like a light bulb, the vision within a radius of ten meters suddenly became clear. Sebastian was naturally familiar with this; it's called a "Light Cocoon." It's a tiny creature, similar to a cicada, and is woven from threads excreted by spirit beasts. It can be suspended or placed anywhere. A single Light Cocoon can illuminate for several hours, making it very convenient to use. Lily Moon threw out five Light Cocoons in a row, and the village suddenly became as bright as daylight, instantly dispelling the darkness. The two began searching in the village, but after scouring the entire area, they didn't see a single person or any trace of evil spirits.

I needed a way to work things out for the good of us all. As my eyes closed in concentration, I caught a flicker of light surrounded by darkness. It went off immediately, only to appear again. It glowed softly, each glow lasting longer than the last. I found my hands reaching out to touch that little light even if it entailed the briefest contact with my fingertips. Somehow, I was certain that it was what I was seeking. The light burned a little brighter and I could make out a tiny form in the middle of it. Round and small.
