“Really? Then I guess I can tell my dad that you’ve injured two shifter females.” Sharp exasperation reached my ears. “That brat isn’t a shifter. She’s just a disgusting human.” “Kataya was born to two primate shifters. She is in fact of shifter descent. She may not have a form, but that does not negate what Hiru is saying.” Ms. Tanis spoke, articulating what I wasn’t able to get through to him. “So again, Mr. Dickerson, are you challenging my father’s authority?”

I threw my weight into the metal bar. The gears were stripped. The chains snapped. The huge iron pot dropped.. It didn't fall into the copper. It tilted. The glowing magma-like essence poured back into the titans chest. The effect was instant. A shockwave of red energy erupted from the Earth-Shaker. The boring-drills vaporized. The chains holding his shoulders snapped like thread. The stone titan stood tall. His eyes burned with the fury of a volcano that had been re-ignited. The Void-ink in my veins recoiled. It hissed. It retreated back to my fingertips. It was suppressed by the explosion of Celestial light.

He spoke, the sound rumbling from his chest. That voice. I knew that voice. "Titan..?" I gasped out, surprised. "Ma'am." He bowed his head to me. "I saw you running blindly on the streets and I rushed to reach you." "Oh, thank you." My heart beat wildly in my chest. I couldn't believe this. Titan was a very big man, topping almost seven feet tall, and had muscles for days, his size alone was very intimidating and scary. I was amongst those who were afraid of him at first when he was assigned with driving me around but after talking to him for a while, I realized that while he may be huge and scary, he was a very sweet shifter who told dry jokes.

Titan growled as he pounded even more roughly and frantically. I loved them both but their personalities were so stark different from each other and I simply loved it. While Ryder was usually gentle and lovey-dovey, Titan was anything but that. He liked it rough and I too loved to embrace that side of him. “It’s not that I am tight,” I whined. “You’re too big…. fuck !” I whimpered when he chose the exact moment to drill straight into my G spot. “I swear I am going to kill you myself, Titan if you get our mate pregnant,” I could hear Ryder growl through the mind link making Titan smirk.

"Alright, alright." The Titans attempting to disable the nuclear warhead were also growing smarter, leaping into the air at strange angles to try and get a lucky shot past our shields. With half my shield gone I had to rotate my Sentinel's body to catch the bullets, shells, or plasma before anything embedded itself into my partially exposed cockpit. I took a moment to get a good look at what I was facing. One Titan, identical to the one we'd destroyed, sported four railguns, each barrel the size of a bus. It hung to the rear of the group, giving cover fire and trying to sneak shots past my Sentinel's shield.

We were doing it in five hours. We weren't building the sleek, stable drives of the future. We were building Dirty Drives. We were bypassing safety protocols, overclocking the engines, and using raw, unrefined code to force the metal to glitch. "Listen up!" Dax shouted, his voice cutting through the noise of grinders and impact wrenches. The garage went silent. "The Board is bringing Titan-Sentinels," Dax announced, pacing in front of the row of modified bikes. "Those mechs have thermal tracking, motion prediction, and armor that can tank a missile. If you ride against them on standard iron, you're dead in three seconds."

“Kari…must I kneel to apologize for the past? I am trying to make things right between us now.” I stared at him, revulsion simmering beneath my calm. “So what now? You are going to pretend to be kind to me?” “Yes,” Titan nodded. “But although you've impressed me greatly, I shall have to tighten the net,” he added without hesitation. “More guards for you, and more eyes on your every move.” He shrugged, his lips curling up in a smug smirk. “You'll be free to go about of course, but now I can't trust you not to make a run for it when you get the slightest chance.”

It was a tactic that was effective, most especially on those who were unfamiliar with it. Tanner was too familiar with both shifters. “Hmmm,” Misha rumbled. “Misha, this is my office,” Tanner said quietly. There was no one other than the two of them in the room. There was not strategic need for such intimidation. Tanner was familiar with this too. “I know,” Misha droned. Tanner eyed his Alpha’s son. There was less than six inches of space between them. “We can take Lightmoon one to two, but these shifters, we now know, must be stronger than their average members, being close to their Alpha, being top warrior class members.”

When people used to think of shifters they would assume it was a human-wolf hybrid that could change with the full moon. But the humans were very wrong. Shifters are always born human and between their fifteenth and sixteenth birthday, their body would change and transform into their true race. While there are werewolves, shifters could also be many other things. Vampires, werewolves, and witches were by far the most common, while sirens, fairies, and the dreaded angels of the night were more uncommon among the shifting race. The most rare was called the arch angels.
