“Jimmie?” The small voice made me look up. Just a few feet away stood Mico, rubbing his eyes, looking like an adorable pup who’d just stumbled out of sleep and gotten lost. “Mico?” I said, surprised. “What are you doing here? Why are you up so early?” He shuffled closer, his wide brown eyes shining with that innocent adoration only children had. “I love watching the guards do their morning patrol,” he admitted with a grin, “especially when they shift into their wolves.”

"Here he comes from the west side. Get ready." I watch the opening to the alley. Adrian struts into my line of sight slowly. "Hey, Mikey. What's happening?" "You're late." I scowl. "Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize I was on a clock." He looked at me smugly. "I've got shit to do." He walked up close to me. "Well then we better do this quick, huh?"

She grinned, and I turned to Rin. "Rin?" I asked her. "Mickey Mouse, please," she replied politely. I threw one down the table for her and then did the same with Sandy. We spent the rest of breakfast chatting happily.

Code word: Thunderbird." His eyes went wide with recognition. The window slammed shut again, and they heard the sound of several locks being undone. The doors opened, and standing in the opening was a jacked mountain of a man with tattoos slathered all over his arms. "Jimmy? That really you?" James managed a grin. "Hey, Big Mike. Long time no see."

Routine made everyone comfortable and safe. It also kept them from getting too curious. "Miki!" Tammy jumped on the girl as soon as she saw her in the middle seat. She immediately grabbed Tammy and kissed her passionately. "I missed you so much," Miki held onto her tightly. She was Shiro's Delta in his council. The tanned woman was strong with her hair pinned in a small bun. Her green eyes looked so happy to have her mate in her arms again. "I missed you more," Tammy murmured in between kisses.

But what help would that do? “Hey, are you okay?” A male voice said to me. I looked up to see a young man, with a hidden face. He wore an overly large black hoodie, the hood hanging over his head. He pulled it back slowly, revealing his round chin, large nose, and dark brown eyes. It was Mikey, Brooke and Damon’s little brother. I stood up quickly, not wanting to appear weak. “I’m fine.” “You don’t seem fine,” he said. I forced a smile.

“I kind of hope they’ll try tonight. Get this over and done with.” “You are using your wife as bait?” “Yes. Do you think she’ll mind?” Frankie roars with laughter. “That girl? She’ll insist on it.” I smile at him and cross my arms over my chest. “Where is Paulie?” “Mikey took him home.” Mikey is one of Paulie’s crew members. In his thirties, good head on his shoulders. Very reliable. “I want as many men here as we can get. Make sure they come in quietly through the back. Whoever is on that island is watching us. I can fucking feel it.”

They were already outside waiting to be introduced and follow us. I walked closer and introduced them. “This is Mikey and Hals. Mikey is going to be Leon’s bodyguard, and Hals is going to be your bodyguard from here on forward,” I told Ariella. Leon bounced up to Mikey, putting his hand forward proudly. “Hello, Mikey! You’re going to be my guard. You and I are going to have a great time shopping and eating ice cream.” Mikey, who was twenty-one, had been sworn in our world when he was sixteen.
