I was the Alpha, and I would fight until my last breath. A powerful blow sent me crashing to the ground, my head spinning as I struggled to stay conscious. The strays circled me, their growls growing louder, their eyes filled with bloodlust. I could feel my body giving out, my vision fading, and for a moment, I thought it was over. But then, in the darkness, I saw her—Xenia's face, her eyes filled with love, with determination. I couldn't let her down. I couldn't let Marrylen down. I had to survive. I had to make it back to them.

Breathing wasn’t easy as there was a slight burning sensation that accompanied every breath I took. “X-Xander,” I tried to talk, but harshness cut my throat, causing me to roughly cough. The pain in my chest increased and I felt like screaming. I needed water. Xander almost jumped from his position and quickly reached for the water bottle on the table. “Here, drink.” He placed the bottle lip on my chappy lips. I took a few gulps and thankfully, the cool water calmed down the fire in my chest. “It h-hurts,” I mumbled, placing my hand on my chest. I could heal myself. Probably not at that moment because my body was weak, but I knew I could do it; however, I didn’t want to do that in front of X

He betrayed me. As I lived through my banishment, my hurt soon turned to anger which further hardened my heart and that anger turned to an unquenchable thirst for revenge. Xander was right. War does change people. END OF BOOK ONE!!!

It speaks of a chosen one, a hero destined to rise and vanquish the darkness that threatens to consume the world. At first, I'm skeptical, dismissing it as nothing more than a fanciful tale. But as Alaric speaks, his words resonate with a strange sense of familiarity, as if stirring something deep within my soul. “You are the key,” he says, his gaze locking with mine. “The one foretold in the prophecy. The one who will lead us to victory.” I'm taken aback by his words, unsure of how to respond. But before I can protest, Xander steps forward, his expression filled with determination.

I knew what she was doing, she was trying to overthrow me as my mother but she had forgotten something, I had inherited my fathers Alpha abilities, I was bigger, stronger and more powerful than her. “Stop” Charlie calls out, tears running down her pink cheeks, she is holding a hand out to my mother, like how she had to Alexander in the hospital. My mother was frozen on the spot, mid shift, part wolf part human but there was fear in her eyes. “Please stop” Charlie speaks but she isn’t speaking to me or Alexander but my mother.

I had no idea what that was supposed to mean, and before I could even think of processing it, Xander was gone; the space where his body had been close, nearly pressing against mine, was now empty. Startled, I spun around, searching him out, only to see him near the church, beside the bushes. Without even thinking, I started moving towards him, but he turned to me before I was even halfway there – he held up a man, struggling in his grip. He stared at me, those eyes of his glowing violet, and he hissed, “You need to understand something now: I am not a hero.” And then he quickly jerked the man to his chest and sunk his fangs deep into his neck.

But, this wasn't the subject right now. “Do you know what is the difference between a naive fool and a hero of justice?" She clenched her fist, a fierce expression on her face. "It's their strength. The first requirement of being a hero isn’t being right. It’s being strong. That’s why the hero always wins.”

My shadow stirred. It rose, blacker than the abyss itself, writhing like a living thing. And when the beast roared in the distance, my shadow smiled. For the first time, so did kael. --- ☠️ End of Chapter 1.

“You are hereby detained for concealment of biological classification under Article 9 of the Dominion Code.” I backed away, every instinct screaming. “You don’t understand—” “Resist, and we’ll sedate you.” A hand reached for me. And then, the world exploded. The door behind them tore clean off its hinges. Xander burst through the smoke, fury carved into every line of his body. His eyes glowed silver, wild and untamed. He didn’t speak. He didn’t hesitate. He attacked. The last thing I saw before everything went dark was the look in his eyes—rage and desperation, tangled with something far worse.
