Blood and Betrayal
He knew I was watching.
“It’s over, Lisa,” Toby whispered, his hand finding mine in the shadows of the bench.
“Is it?” I asked, looking at the empty dock. “He’s still in my blood, Toby. Every time I look in the mirror, I see his eyes. Every time I breathe, I feel the air he gave me.”
“Then we’ll change the mirror,” Toby said, his grip tightening. “One day at a time.”
I didn’t go back to the cottage immediately. I had one final debt to settle.
