Kaden nodded again, a smirk playing on his lips. “Fuck yeah." Cameron's eyes darkened, and he retorted, "You're going to lose the case, just like you always do. A born loser." “You are just simply a pained motherfucker,” Kaden shrugged. Their father, Dan, intervened, attempting to diffuse the tension. "Boys, let’s not ruin the evening with legal matters. Focus on the food, everyone,shall we?”

He left through the same door he'd entered, back into the forest, and I sat alone at the long table in the emptying dining room and pressed my palm flat against my sternum, trying to distinguish between two resonances that were rapidly becoming impossible to separate. Two brothers. Two pulls. And the growing, terrible certainty that the universe had made a mistake.

“What do you know so far?” I sigh, sitting in front of him and Carley, who he has pulled into his lap. Carter is unconscious and the blood steadily dripping from his body, but there is no way for us to reach him in the cage. She notices where I am looking. “I tried to doctor him, but the cage electrocuted me.” I nod at her. Of course, she would attempt to doctor her twin brother. Their relationship is strained, but Carter has slowly been making strides to repair his relationship with her and her husbands. “What’s your assessment?”

He turned back to face Daryl who had a dark expression on his face and his hands balled into fists. "Fuck" Carter breathed and wiped the blood off his busted lips, "That's it" He muttered and threw a punch at Daryl. Daryl fell to the floor with a heavy thud and it didn't take a second before Carter threw the next punch. "Carter!!" Carl yelled, struggling to hold his older brother back, but failing miserably at it. Carter was relatively bigger and more fit than they were and he internally cursed at his younger brother for picking a fight with someone they knew to be a ticking bomb.

When I turned up the music louder, he only sang louder. At least it was easier to ignore than his talking. I was still hurt and confused. I didn’t understand what was going on with either of the brothers. Whenever Derek wasn’t around Jessica, he was sweet and happy. When he was with her, he always seemed to be withdrawn and in pain. But he stayed, despite recognizing that. And Tyler…Tyler was always a guessing-game to be around. Half the time, he was easy and funny. And then the other half of the time, he was completely unpredictable.

"Zane, let go of him!" Stella turned around to see a man, who looked exactly like Zane, approaching them hurriedly. He was Carter, Zane's twin brother, the most outstanding descendant of the Lowe family, who was also the established heir of Lowe's Corporate. Although they looked exactly the same, the twins gave off very different vibes. Zane looked dark and dangerous, while Carter looked more reserved. Carter spoke slowly and gently, like a diligent valedictorian who the grown-ups had high hopes for.

The tens of thousands of Carter family members that had fought in the beginning had been whittled down to only a few hundred survivors. Those that remained had no sign of fear or backing down. They gritted their teeth and continued to fight. They knew that they would be killed anyway if they were to give up. "Out of my way!" Yooda landed a blow that seemed to use barely any energy at all. It sent the few Carter family members in front of him flying backward as he walked toward Chester step by step. "I heard that you and Darryl Darby are sworn brothers," Yooda smirked coldly. "So you must be pretty powerful around here. I'm giving you a chance now. Surrender while you still can."
