I can’t make out what they are saying and, to be honest, I don’t care. They can’t be saying anything about me worse than I am already thinking. No one should make you feel like this.” She gives a sarcastic smile. “Easy for you to say, Mr. I-own-the-bar.” I’ve seen people like Julie before, people who won’t leave a toxic relationship because, deep down, they still love the person. She’s saying it’s because of her family, but I can tell it’s more than that. She’s not ready to let go of him. Love does that to you—it makes you hold on even when you shouldn’t. I know that feeling all too well.
