"Zo, Watch my car spin, and look at my T-Rex!" Tom drove his car right up to Sebastien's shoe, making it click against the leather. "See, Grandpa? It is super fast. Maya, watch it spin!" Tom pressed the button on his controller, making the car drift across the hardwood floor. Maya cheered, clapping her hands. "Wow! That thing is a beast. Just keep it away from the cake area, okay?" "I will!" Tom giggled. Enzo leaned over the back of the couch, grinning at Tom. "After lunch, we are going to the backyard to see if it can outrun me."

But what's on his mind right now is how to escape from Ezra's pursuit and get the rest of the payment from his grumpy boss. When they passed the intersection, the curly one honked loudly to let everyone know that he was going through and his car was going very fast. But suddenly a very slow tractor crossed the crossroads. The curly was shocked and panicked. He tried to avoid a collision by swerving to the right. However, because the speed of the car was too fast, the car actually skidded on a muddy road. The car hovered in the air for two brief seconds, then rolled over the muddy ground three times, then stopped upside down.

It was a Toyota Corolla KE25 and I immediately entered it as I drove away, breaking through the side door of the garage which led through the wood and then to the main road. I kept on driving as fast as I could. I had no destination but I really had to keep driving until I was out of danger. I had taken the lonely road that led to the bridge. "Damn it." I groaned as I realized I wouldn't be able to stay that long anymore. The wolfsbane was making my vision blurry and I couldn't see the road clearly if not for the blinding car lights and sounds.

Tom left early in the morning, intending to return to the house when the movers arrived. Edie left an hour or so later. Once on the road, the traffic was light. She hummed to the song on the radio as she glanced in the rearview mirror. A small white car came out of nowhere and was close behind her. She slowed to let the auto pass, but it only moved closer behind her. Remembering a short cut, she suddenly swerved onto a dirt road, dust flying from under her tires as she stepped on the gas. When she came to the end of the road and stopped to check for cross traffic, the vehicle was still behind her.

Hunter sprinted after Stone. He saw him cross the busy road without fear. The cars hooted causing traffic on the road. Hunter ran past the cars sliding on top of the hood of one car. He could see Stone looking back as he ran and everytime he did, he increased his pace but Hunter was on him like a lion. Getting closer to him, Hunter grabbed Stone's shirt bringing him to a stop and they both fell in the middle of the road.

He was thrilled to stand at the door, to have the wind slap through his hair and clothes while feasting on the sights outside. Soon, the train slowed down and came to a stop. Dev looked around. They were parked at some desolate place with nothing but tall grass around. He glanced at his watch. Three minutes had passed. “Are we at a station or something?” he asked the balding man. “Not really,” he answered. “There’s a crossing here. The express train is due any minute.” He paused to listen. “Talk about the devil. Here it comes.” A BLARE closed in fast and SLAPPED past.

The list of things I need to survive. Not him. Then— A sound. Low. Lethal. A car slows beside me. Smooth. Sleek. Black as consequence. The kind of car that doesn’t belong on this street—or anywhere outside a high-security compound and a Forbes cover. Of course. Because of course. The window glides down like a scene cue, and there he is—Nathan Cross in the driver’s seat, looking like the problem I never asked for but apparently subscribed to. “Get in,” he says, voice low and velvet-lined. Like it’s a suggestion. Like he’s not already sure I will.

Coco had no way to turn back now. Crossing the bridge had been extremely dangerous. After crossing the bridge, her legs were weak and shaking like floating in a cloud. Coco took a deep breath and continued along the mountain road, heading to the next destination. Not long after that, she heard an explosion from the suspension bridge. Coco turned around only to see that the bridge had been destroyed. Did Aubrey blow up the bridge? Was Aubrey and Snow afraid someone would follow her, so they cut off the road?

"Congratulations, Harriet Underwood! You've won a horse plushie. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth!" Startled, I froze in place. A hint of impatience flickered across the emcee's face. She shoved the plushie into my arms and forced me offstage. The cheap plushie in my hands felt rough to the touch, and the price tag hanging on its back still read five dollars. I recalled what was written on the slip earlier and knew I hadn't misread it. I was about to go onstage to explain when thunderous applause broke out across the hall. "Congratulations, Katie Thorpe! You've won first prize this year—a three-day trip to Marosa!"
